Briefing Papers (A2)
Thursday 4.30pm and Monday 9.30am, Weeks 4-12

Write Briefing Papers for specified Deepika Chopra Executive Team members to direct their
international expansion analysis process. Each Briefing Paper will have a challenge related to the
week’s topic. The audience and challenge are specified in each week’s Moodle section.
Practice Briefing Papers
The first two Briefing Papers (relating to the topics in Weeks 2 and 3) will be practice weeks. Your
facilitator will provide feedback on each practice round, in addition to your peers’ feedback. It is
strongly recommended to complete at least one of the practice weeks to:
• Create familiarity with Briefing Papers, and the submission and evaluation system
• Ensure you have a clear understanding of the assignment instructions, and
• Use the feedback to better demonstrate your achievement of the learning outcomes
The submission and evaluation requirements are the same as for the assessed rounds.
Assessable Briefing Papers
The learning from Weeks 4-11 is assessable in Briefing Papers (due in Weeks 4-11). Importantly, for
the Briefing Paper to contribute to your marks, you need to:
1. Submit your Briefing Paper (by Thursday 4.30pm in the week of the topic), and
2. Evaluate three (3) other students’ briefing papers in Moodle for that week (between 4.40pm
Thursday and 9.30am Monday, immediately following submission)
• IF you miss one of the above, you will receive zero (0) marks for that week's Briefing Paper
Your mark for each Briefing Paper is comprised of two components:
1. Your submitted briefing paper’s achievement as evaluated by your peers (80 points)
2. Your assessment/evaluation of your peers’ briefing papers (20 points)
The top four (4) assessed Briefing Paper marks (combining the submission and
assessment/evaluation components) will contribute to your final mark.
Late Submissions and Extensions
Late submissions and evaluations are NOT accepted
Extensions are NOT available for the Briefing Papers (due to the system used). Due to this, you do
have flexibility of completing just four (4) of the eight (8) assessed Briefing Papers, though please
build in two (2) back-up weeks just in-case you miss a Briefing Paper.
Mark Moderation
The mark provided each week is provisional. It may be moderated (up or down) based upon a
request for moderation to the Chief Examiner. A moderation request must be made within ten (10)
working days of the release of marks (earlier requests are appreciated). Moderation requests need
to be sent from your student email account to the Chief Examiner. In your moderation request,
please specify if it is for the Briefing Paper you submitted (your submission mark), and/or the
Briefing Papers you evaluated (your assessment/evaluation mark).

If moderation is requested, the Chief Examiner will evaluate the Briefing Paper(s), and it will adjust
the outcome for all involved (the submitter and evaluators). This means that your Briefing Paper
mark (submission and/or assessment/evaluation components) may be adjusted even if you do not
personally request moderation (as aligned with the evident demonstration compared to the rubric
criteria).
