Assessment Task 2
Task overview
Assessment name: Project Artefacts
Task description: You will create an omnichannel suite of designs that addresses the
problem/issue you identified in the project plan (Assessment Task 1) you
submitted. You will use design theory, visual communication best practices,
and industry standard software to craft your messages across multiple
channels and will be assessed on their design, how well they take
advantage of the channels’ affordances, and how well they work together
as a suite of designs.
Learning outcome
measured:
2. Use industry-standard software to create media artefacts appropriate
for targeted avenues.
3. Communicate effectively across multiple avenues using design choices
informed by visual theory.
Due date: All components for this piece of assessment will be due at 11:59 p.m.
(AEST) on the time/date specified on Blackboard.
Estimated time to
complete task:
52.5 hours
Point value: This assessment item is worth 600 points overall (200 each for visual
communication choices on individual designs, appropriateness of
message to channel, and quality/consistency across the suite of
designs). You can calculate your grade on a seven-point scale using the
below guide:
• 510-600 points (85-100 percent) – 7 High Distinction
• 450-599 points (75-84 percent) – 6 Distinction
• 390-449 points (65-74 percent) – 5 Credit
• 300-389 points (50-64 percent) – 4 Pass
• 240-299 points (40-49 percent) – 3 Marginal fail
• 150-239 points (25-39 percent) – 2 Fail
149 points or fewer (24 percent or fewer) – 1 Low Fail
Individual/Group: Individual.
Canvas.

Task Requirements
Submission requirements:
You need to submit the following three1 elements as a single .zip folder (Name it
Lastname_CCB102_A2.zip) via Blackboard:
1. A PDF file (name it Lastname_CCB102_A2_Main.pdf) with the following components:
o Cover page (list your name, student number, and tutor)
o Contextualising narrative that includes:
§ One-sentence statement of problem/issue
§ One-sentence definition of target audience
§ One-sentence statement of design concept
§ 3-5 paragraphs of justification and rationale for your design and channel
decisions
o At least three design detail pages. Dedicate a single page to each of your (at least three)
designs across both physical and digital channels. Label the design with the specific
channel you’ve selected (eg, ‘Instagram post’ or ‘Instagram story’). It’s not specific enough
to just say ‘social media post’. For interactive or motion-based designs, provide a
screenshot of a pivotal frame in your PDF submission AND upload the multimedia file(s) to
Blackboard (as element two, below). Blackboard only allows uploading files of up to 500
megabytes.
o A design overview that shows all your designs on a single page)
2. Adobe source files for your submission. Name them
Lastname_CCB102_A2_SourceFile.relevantfileformat.
o If using InDesign and/or Illustrator, use the File > Package … command to collate all the
underlying elements (linked graphics, fonts, source files [.indd/.idml/.ai], etc) into a single
folder.
o If using Photoshop, include the .psd file.
o If using Premiere, include the .prproj file.
o If using XD, include the .xd file.
3. Multimedia file(s) (if your submission includes interactive or motion-based designs). Name
them Lastname_CCB102_A2_Channel.relevantfileformat.
Submit your PDFs and any multimedia files to Blackboard before the due date. Interactive or
motion-based designs uploaded to other locations (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) will NOT be
marked. Submissions without source files will not be marked.
You’re encouraged to view a visual overview and indicative summary of these elements by
navigating to our unit’s Blackboard site and clicking the ‘Assessment’ tab.
Please note: On submission, you are declaring that, unless otherwise acknowledged, this
submission is wholly yours and it has not been used and already submitted. I understand that this
work may be submitted for plagiarism check and consent to this taking place.
1 You will submit three elements if your submission includes interactive or motion-based designs (eg, XD files or
a video file). Otherwise, your submission will include two elements (Main PDF and Adobe source files).
C nvas (as elem nt two, below). Canvas nly allows uploading files of up to 500

Task details
What you need to do: Consider the following aspects in creating your design suite:
1. Have I creatively considered how I’m defining screen- and
physical-based media? While your design can adopt a paper-
based approach, it doesn’t necessarily have to. Physical media
includes all manners of approaches, such as T-shirts, coasters,
tote bags, pens, skywriting, ice sculptures, and the like.
Similarly, screen-based approaches could include Snapchat or
Instagram stories, mobile app interfaces, mini websites, etc.
2. Is the message I’ve selected appropriate for the channel and
able to benefit from design theory and visual communication
best practices I’ve learnt?
3. Have I made the most of the channel’s affordances?
4. Have I carefully considered each of my visual communication
choices and justified why I decided the way I did? This will be
especially relevant if your target audience or problem has
changed throughout the semester after you submitted A1, which
isn’t recommended but is sometimes unavoidable.
5. Have I created my designs across at least three channels? How
do my designs work in conjunction with one another? Is there an
apparent consistency, unity, or visual approach that links them
together?
6. Have I prototyped, tested, and refined my concepts in various
and varied real-world conditions? (E.g., at day, at night, from
close up, from far away, in different lighting conditions, at
different speeds, alone and with others around, etc.)
Presentation equirements: Submit the three elements detailed in the ‘submission requirements’
section (page 3) as a single .zip folder.
Resources needed to
complete task:

Academic Integrity
As a student of the QUT academic community, you are asked to uphold the principles of academic integrity
during your course of study. QUT sets expectations and responsibilities of students specifically stating that
students “adopt an ethical approach to academic work and assessment in accordance with this policy and the
Student Code of Conduct (E/2.1)". Students need to be aware that academic integrity refers to text and non-
text sources, i.e. "copying or adapting non-text based material created by others, such as diagrams, designs,
musical score, audio-visual materials, art work, plans, code or photographs without appropriate
acknowledgement" (MOPP C/5.3.6 Academic Integrity). It also includes self-plagiarism, this “involves the re-
use by a student of their own work without appropriate acknowledgement of the source. Students should seek
express consent from the unit coordinator prior to re-using their own work in an assessment submission"
(MOPP C/5.3.6 Academic Integrity).

Students are expected to demonstrate their own understanding and thinking using ideas provided by ‘others’ to
support and inform their work, always acknowledging the source. While we encourage peer learning, it is not
appropriate to share assignments with other students unless your assessment piece has been stated as being
a group assignment. If you do share your assignment with another student, and they copy all or part of your
assignment for their submission, this is considered collusion and you may be reported for academic
misconduct. If you are unsure and need more information
