Assessment Task 2- Reflection Essay on the use of Generative AI
Background information
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can be useful for a wide range of problems, and they are
finding their way more into people's daily personal and work lives. However, to what extent
can an AI tool support people in doing their work, depends on the quality of the tool and the
problem at hand (see e.g. Topic 5 and 7).
It requires AI literacy for individuals and organisations to make informed decisions about the
use of AI to ensure its potential is realised without causing issues. That is, it requires an
understanding of AI applications and the implications of it, including the ability to identity
and address potential limitations and biases in AI systems and to understand the ethical
implication of using AI.
In this reflective essay, you will explore the use of generative AI in solving a business
problem. You will reflect on the benefits and challenges of using generative AI, the quality of
the insights generated, and the implications of these insights to develop your AI literacy.
Assessment task
Assume again that you work for the ‘Bendigo Coop Store’(BCS)1 that you already know from
Assignment 1. BCS is a regional retail chain which operates over 50 stores across Australia
and has been in business for over 100 years. It offers a variety of goods, ranging from
household goods and clothing to decoration and board games for different age groups to
satisfy the daily needs of their customer with good quality products.
The CEO wants to explore how AI could be useful for the organisation to transform its
business model. She tasks you with providing her with an 800-word report that proposes
one application of AI relevant to business model transformation at BCS (you can focus, for
example, on one application in your degree major area, e.g., Accounting, Human Resource
Management, Marketing etc.) and discuss the benefits and challenges associated with the
suggested application. She wants you to express your opinion which considers potentially
diverging opinions from a CEO perspective and head of a store perspective. She also asks
you to research literature to support your opinion and expects you to cite at least 3
academic journal articles.

Your task is:
a) Use AI tools such as ChatGPT or similar to write the above-described 800-word
report.
b) Write a 2000-word reflection about the use of AI in writing the report, which is also
informed by at least 3 academic journal articles.
This reflection should:
1) Outline how you have used the AI tool(s) (e.g.: What have you used? What
happened?),
2) Evaluate how well the AI tool(s) used supported you in answering the question
(e.g.: How did you find it helpful? What limitations did you experience? How did
you feel using AI tools?), and
3) Discuss what you learnt from using AI tools (e.g.: How do AI tools affect your
learning experience? How would you want to use AI tools in the future?)
WEIGHTING: 45%
DUE DATE: Week 9, Sunday 24 September,2023 11:55 PM AEST

refrain from using screenshots excessively.
• Any report outside of this word limit will be penalised.
• Your document should include a word count on the title page.
CONDITIONS FOR USING GENERATIVE AI:
Generative AI tools are not restricted for this assessment task
In this assessment, you CAN use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to assist you in any
way. Any use of generative AI must be appropriately acknowledged
