Case: Simple Salad
Simple Salad sells and delivers freshly made salad during weekday lunch time within the downtown
district. Cash is paid upon delivery. Simple Salad specialises in Greek Salad, Caesar salad, Moroccan
Chicken salad, and Thai Beef salad, and each is set at a different selling price.
The shop manager takes orders over the phone and enters them into the system. Once an order is
recorded, the system prints a copy of the order in the kitchen. The kitchen helper prepares the salad
accordingly and passes everything back to the shop manager once made. For simplicity, you can
assume the person who orders knows what to order, the shop manager is merely taking orders.
The shop manager then updates the system to indicate that the order is ready for despatch.
Immediately after it is updated, the system prints three identical copies of the invoice receipt. The
shop manager gives the delivery clerk the salad and the first two copies of the invoice receipt and files
the third copy away together with the kitchen copy.
The delivery clerk delivers the order together with the invoice receipts. The person gets to keep the
first copy but returns the second copy (after signing it to indicate delivery) together with the payments
to the delivery clerk. The delivery clerk hands over the payments and the signed copy to the shop
manager upon his return. For simplicity, you can assume the person who orders will pay for their salad
in exact amount (i.e. no change is required).
Required:
Part 1: Hand draw your Systems Flowchart answers for each specified sentence(s) from the Simple
Salad case description onto the designated space.
To earn full marks, your answers on the specified sentence(s) must reflect the case as a whole, and
must not be independent of the case (i.e. reflects that sentence alone and ignores the rest of the case).
Make sure you specify and label the relevant internal entities. Note: Even though three columns are
provided for you in each instance, you need NOT use all three columns.
