What is Capital IQ?
Capital IQ is a web and Excel-based financial research application produced by Standard &
Poor’s. It organizes historical information on companies, markets, transactions, and people
worldwide, providing clients with the data necessary to analyze company fundamentals, build
financial models, screen for investment ideas, and execute other financial research tasks.
• This week's tutorial will look at how to navigate the capital IQ to find information for your
assignments.
• You will learn how to screen for companies and how to find data for a company
o The company we will use as an example is the Starbuck Company (NasdaqGS:SBUX)
• The tutor will go through a live session with you to demonstrate how to use the database
• You should explore the database more freely in your own time.
o This database will be very useful for your individual project.
