MEDS2005 Integrated Assessment
Activity: You have been exploring a current “wicked problem” in medical science across the
second year of your medical science degree. For many of you, MEDS2005 provides the final
piece to this puzzle where you will create a portfolio of all aspects of your integrated
assignments and exploration of the wicked problem you have ‘championed’.
This task will primarily focus on providing a visual platform, with a small written aspect that
is individually assessed.
Task: Having completed different aspects of communication relating to your wicked
problem, the creation of a ‘one-stop’ portfolio to present all this information to an
interested party is important and something you can add to your medical science portfolio
for future career opportunities.
Part A: Creating the Portfolio using Microsoft Sway
All portfolios need to be created in Microsoft Sway. This is part of the Office 365 suit and is
free to use for all students. It can be edited simply, just like powerpoint and has many
guided tours and help embedded as required. I will also be running drop-in sessions across
the next two weeks for students who may require some additional guidance. Here is a link
to an overview of Sway: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-

1. Each component of your completed integrated assignments should be added (in
order – MEDS2001-MEDS2004) to your Sway.
a. Create sections for each assessment that include the following:
i. MEDS2001 – Your title and a copy of the text that you provided as
your overview of the topic (simple copy and paste).
ii. MEDS2002 – A copy of your group poster – this can either be
inserted as an image or broken into sections - whichever is more
visually appealing.
iii. MEDS2003 – Add in the media release including the image and
title used.
iv. MEDS2004 – Embed the audio file or a link to the podcast.
2. Remember to make this visually appealing and engaging for the audience so if
you want to add further summary, images or relevant information as headings,
this is fine.

3. If you have not completed a particular MEDS200X unit and subsequent
integrated assignment as yet, please include the following for the missing
content:
a. MEDS2001 – A short overview of your topic – what your topic is and why
it is wicked. Also include a list of 5 references that you will use to explore
the current research of your particular topic.
b. MEDS2002 – Include a key figure from one relevant (current) research
article and describe its meaning in the context of your problem.
c. MEDS2003 – Include an image (you can create this or use one from the
web) and short (100-200 words) overview of your wicked problem to a
generalist (lay) audience. The image should be simple for the audience to
understand.
d. MEDS2004 – Provide a link to a current youtube video or podcast that
relates to your topic or to general wicked problems.
As you complete the remaining MEDS200X units, you can simply update you Sway with this
material to update your portfolio for use.
Part B: The final section of your sway should be a short self-reflection (no more than 250
words) on what you have learnt through the completion of your integrated assignment.
Include the following:
• Describe your experience(s) from different perspectives that include:
o Personal
o Academic
o Public
• Describe the learning in each of these categories:
o What did I learn?
o How did I learn it?
o Why does this learning matter, or why is it significant?
o In what ways will I use this learning?
Assessment
As the bulk of this task has been completed in other units of study this assessment will focus
on a presentation of information. This assessment is worth 10% of your final grade for
MEDS2005. The marks are allocated as follows:
Aspect Marks allocated
Content order (flow) 3
Visual engagement 5
Reflection 5
Control of Language 2
3
What to submit: A link to your completed Sway portfolio and a document that includes all
references used (see template below). Your sway is due by the end of week 12 –
11:59pm on the 29th October.
