IRE242 – Introduction to Human Resources
Instructor: Anny Fong
Description
This individual assignment asks you to create a presentation to
• Profile a real-life organization from a human resources management perspective
• Create a hypothetical job posting for a role in this organization and discuss how this role fits into the organization
o Note that you may not take a posted/existing job description of the organization; you are to create one based on your
knowledge of the organization and HRM concepts
• Explain how you intend to recruit for this role, select the right candidate, and why your method would be effective
• Identify one key HRM challenge the organization faces and recommendations on how to overcome it.
• Incorporate two academic sources to support the rationale for your recommendation.
Assume
that you are presenting this to an executive audience. Please use a
presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint). In industry, you will
often be called on as a strategic partner to senior management teams and will be asked to present your insights and
recommendations. Conduct your research using public company materials (e.g. press releases, newsletters to investors, etc.).
Please
try to take this as an opportunity to practice! For this assignment,
you won’t need to actually present it (i.e. you do not need to
record a video or provide any voiceovers) but simply conduct research on the company, conduct your analysis applying concepts
from the course and academic sources, synthesize it, and create a presentation for it.
Guiding Questions to Consider
You
do not need to answer each of these, but these questions will help you
formulate what an executive audience would be looking
for.
