report. Other sections will consolidate skills developed in earlier assessment tasks. The assignment is worth
100 marks in total.
1. From the Excel spreadsheet of the class results, create graphs comparing the relationship between:
a) A ratio of waist circumference and height (waist/height), and BMI;

2. Describe quantitatively the results presented in the graphs. **Do not use the assessment literacy exemplars
as a template** (10 marks)
3. Interpret the results presented in the graphs, commenting on any interesting aspects of the data, and
support your explanations with appropriate references to scientific literature. (15 marks)
For the next questions, you will need to navigate the UK Biobank (http://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk).
To search for data, use the following link (https://biobank.ctsu.ox.ac.uk/crystal/search.cgi)
4. Extract and tabulate data on tobacco smoking for:
• the overall class data;
• the data from the UK Biobank.
Indicate where you sourced the UK Biobank data from and provide a brief justification for your selection.
(10 marks)
5. Consider the responses to tobacco smoking in the biomedicine cohort with the UK Biobank data. Provide
possible explanation(s) of any discrepancies observed, referring to resources where appropriate. (10 marks)
6. Extract and tabulate data on vaping for:
• the overall class data;
• individuals of a similar age range in Australia.
Indicate where you sourced the Australian data from and provide a brief justification for your selection.
(10 marks)
7. Consider the responses to vaping in the biomedicine cohort. Provide possible explanation(s) of any
discrepancies observed, referring to resources where appropriate. (10 marks)
8. The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS; https://www.firsnet.org/about/about-us) is a
collective of international respiratory societies working in collaboration towards the improvement of lung
