CAM EXAM INSTRUCTION
Login to Moodle – Go to the CAM Exam Page in Week 9 and download the Solidworks Part that
corresponds to your student number.
Solidworks 3D Modification
Preview your Solidworks model and remove any features in the Solidworks model (if any) that cannot
manufactured using 2.5D milling operations OR feature(s) that cannot be manufactured due to the
tool constraint. Save your Solidworks file as a ‘part’ and import it to Fusion360.
Fusion360 Manufacturing
Simulate the manufacturing of your saved Solidworks part using Autodesk Fusion360.
Your manufacture simulation must comply with the following constraints:
Stock Constraints
Use a rectangle stock extended 10mm from all faces of the target model.
Tools Constraints
You are restricted to same tool list as your major assignment. Please setup your tool library prior to
the exam.
Operation Constraints
• The part must be produced using 2.5D Milling Operations.
• Plunging is NOT allowed for end milling

Manufacturing Aim
• Simulate the manufacturing of the target model to the specified dimensions as close as
possible
• Maximise material removal rate
• Minimise the manufacturing time
• Minimise tool changes
Once you have completed your CAM file, save the file as a Autodesk Fusion 360 Archive Files (.f3d).
Please ensure all your setups and operations are saved before submission. Submit your file to the
CAM Exam Page.
Table 1: Late Submission Penalty Rules
Submission after the time limit Penalty
≤ 5 minutes No penalty
Between 5 to 10 minutes 10% off the final mark
Between 10 to 15 minutes 20% off the final mark
≥ 15 minutes Zero mark will be awarded
*In the event of extreme circumstances, e.g. internet connection failure, major power outage, illness
that may prevent you from completing your viva exam, you MUST let the course authority (Dr Ron
Chan) aware of your situation ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM.
