ENG2001 Research Project Instructions Fall 2023
You may choose any aspect as your research topic that you find interesting, important, or compelling
and the topic needs to be approved by your instructor . The research must NOT be any previous
assignments from other subjects.
Step 1 (15%): Come up with a proposal of 500 - 800 words (excluding references) that consists of
the following components:
Title
Introduction
Literature review
Research question(s)
Method(s)
Timeline
Significance of research
References in APA7 Style (at least 3 reputable English sources )
Please submit your research proposal (file name: class_name.doc) on BB
Due on Tuesday 11:59pm 10 October 2023
Step 2 (25%): Prepare a 5-minute individual presentation (plus 3-minutes Q&A). Report at least
the following:
What is/are your research question(s)?
Why were you interested in this question/research?
What did you do in this research?
How did you conduct the research?
What did you find?
What is the impact of the results?
Be prepared to answer questions from the audience and teacher
Put your research topic, Chinese and English name and student number on the cover
slide, and all information on slides should be in English
Presentation in Week 13 and 14 in class
Step 3 (30%): Prepare a research paper of 1200 - 1500 words (excluding references and appendix)
with the following sections:
Title
Abstract
Introduction
Literature review
Research question(s)
Method(s)
Results
Discussion/Conclusion
References in APA7 Style (at least 5 reputable English sources )
Appendices (if necessary)
