1. What is the time frame of the case and how should I approach it?
You should be examining the case in the timeframe when the case was written. You are not asked to
research the current performance of Deutsche Bank. Rather, position yourself as a consultant at the time
of the case and think about the analysis/comments you would provide on Sewing’s actions.
2. For Question 1, what does it mean by “What is he trying to accomplish?”?
To answer this question thoroughly, you should try to outline Sewing’s restructuring plan in reasonable
details.
3. For Question 2, how do I approach the question “How did the market react to the restructuring plan”?
To answer this question thoroughly, you should try to describe the market reaction and provide possible
reasons for the reaction in reasonable details.
4. Do I need to have a clear introduction and conclusion for Question 1 and Question 2 respectively?
Yes. A clear introduction and a clear concluding paragraph must be there to receive marks for those
sections as outlined in the rubrics.
5. Is it compulsory to reference the lecture slides?
No, it is not compulsory to directly reference the lecture slides.
The idea of this assessment is that you should be able to read the case carefully and conduct relevant
research to help you form your argument. It would be a good practice if you could relate to some relevant
lecture discussions that help substantiate your argument. Your ability to read effectively and think
critically is also part of the assessment.
6. If I need to use information from the case document, what should I do?
You could put down “as mentioned/given in the case study (page XX), …” to use the information from
the case study.
You CAN NOT directly copy and paste from the case study. Any information from the case should be
paraphrased - you need to analyse the situation and write in your own words.
7. Is there requirement for calculation?
No, it is not compulsory to conduct calculation. But you could use numbers to facilitate your discussion
where you see fit.

8. Can I use appendix? Will the appendix count towards the page limit?
Yes, you can use appendix. No, the appendix is excluded from the maximum 5-page limit as outlined in
the assignment instructions.
The maximum 5-page limit is strictly enforced. If your answer exceeded the page limit, the
marker will stop reading at the end of the 5th page. Make sure you follow the guidelines
regarding line spacing and font.
9. When will the submission link be available?
When it’s close to the due date. You have only one chance to submit your work, make sure the
submission is your correct and final version. You will be notified via email once the submission link is
available.
