PSYC1022 Summer: Instructions for Final Exam
The final exam link will be available in Moodle for a 2-hour window. Students need to ensure they
complete all 60 MC questions before the window closes. The date and time for this exam are listed in
the "Assessment 4: Final Exam" Moodle topic. It is your responsibility to log into Moodle and complete
the exam within this time window. Failure to do so will incur a mark of zero.
You should start the exam no later than 50 minutes prior to the exam closing if you intend to have the
full- time allocation (45 minutes) to complete the exam. Should you still be undertaking the exam
when it closes, all the answers you have entered up until this point will be saved automatically and the
exam will stop.
You will only be allowed one attempt at the final exam and your mark is final. All exam questions will
be drawn from lecture content and the two assigned readings. All topics covered in the lectures will
be assessed (excluding the Research, APA, and Writing skills lessons).
The final exam will consist of 60 multiple choice questions and you will have 45 minutes to complete
it. This is plenty of time if you are sufficiently prepared. Each question has 4 possible answers.
Choose the answer you think is correct and press ‘Next’. If you are uncertain about an answer, also
click on ‘flag’. This way, when you have answered all the questions, you can use the remaining time to
review flagged questions. The exam will automatically submit your answers when the time has
finished, so you can keep reviewing your answers so long as you have time remaining. Note that the
time remaining is shown in the top left ‘Quiz Navigation panel’. The exam is not negatively marked.
So, if you are uncertain about an answer, you should guess, as you will have a 25% chance of being
correct. Answer every question even if you have to guess. The maximum score is 90 (each question
is worth 1.5 marks). Your exam mark will constitute 40% of your overall mark in the course, the
remaining 60% being determined by the essay (45%) and the SRL Activities (15%). Final exam marks
are not made available. Students can determine their performance in the final exam once final marks
are released by the university.
ELP adjustments: if you are registered with Equitable Learning Services and have adjustment
provisions for exams, these will be accommodated by your Course Coordinator in your online exam
setup. If you have concerns or questions, please email the Course Coordinator to discuss them.

Pre- Exam Tasks
There are 4 pre-exam activities that need to be marked as complete before you will be granted access
to the Final Exam link (when the exam window opens). These activities are located in the “Final Exam”
section toggle in Moodle and are:
1. Online exam conduct procedure (a document to read)
2. Expectations for online exams (a video to watch)
3. Instructions for Final Exam (this document)
4. ‘Test Quiz: Browser and Connection’: a mock quiz to ensure that your computer set up
functions properly. Complete this quiz (marks are irrelevant, the content is not related to the
course and will not be assessed in any way), and given successful completion, ensure that you
use the same computer set up for the final exam. It is highly recommended that you complete
this test quiz within 30 minutes of taking the final exam.
In addition to these 4 activities you are encouraged to read the information available at the “Important
information for online assessments” section of the special consideration website. Ensure that you
understand the steps you need to take if you experience technical difficulties during this exam and
requirements for special consideration applications.
You are advised to attend to all pre-exam tasks at least 24 hours before the exam window opens.
Exam Password
15 minutes before the exam opens, the Course Coordinator will release the exam password via a
Moodle Announcement. You will need to enter the password to access the final exam.
Tips for Practice and Revision
All course topics and associated readings are represented in the final exam. To help with revision you
should:
• Complete the topic quizzes and aim for 100% in all of them
• Complete the final exam practice quiz (aim for 100%)
• Make note of the “Outline” and “Summary” slides in each lecture. These highlight important
key topics and concepts covered in the course.
• Review the “Course information slides” released in Moodle prior to Term. These can be found
in the "General Course Resources" topic. In particular, read the "Tips - Studying" slides.
• Read through some of the resources in the “Self- management for effective learning” section
tab. In particular, check out some of the tools listed under “BUT I WORKED SO
HARD! EFFECTIVE STUDY STRATEGIES”
• Engage with members of your study group and get some collaborative revision going.
Research shows that collaborative/peer learning is an effective study strategy. Another
effective strategy is “elaboration” so, try to avoid simple rote learning.
Best of luck,
Helena
