Description
The final exam will take place in the formal examination period at the end of the session.
It is worth 40% of your overall course grade.
It is designed to provide an individual assessment of the depth of your knowledge of the
analytical tools and your competence in explaining their meaning and using them to address
marketing problems.
Contents
The contents will be drawn from the entire course, inclusive of both lectures and tutorials,
excluding all the optional contents and the optional readings.
Format
The final exam is a take‐home online assessment on Moodle.
You have 24 hours to attempt, but you can only attempt once and the completion time
limit is 90 minutes. The date of the final exam will be determined by the UNSW exam
time‐tabling team.
The final exam consists of 25‐30 multiple choice questions, each is worth 1 mark. The
total marks will be scaled down to 40% of the overall course grade. For each question,
choose the option that you think best answers the question or completes the statement.
A course announcement will be posted on Moodle one day in advance, reminding you
about the exam and pointing out the location of the exam link. You will be able to
receive this announcement via your UNSW email or the email you linked with your
Moodle account.
MARK3054, T1 2024 2
Preparation
Familiarize yourself with the contents taught in the lecture and tutorials.
o Go through the examples in the lectures. Do not just read the problems and the
solutions. It is better for you to read the problem, try to solve the problem again
yourself, and finally check the solution.
o Go through the examples in the tutorials in the same way.
o Challenge yourself using the additional questions provided in the lectures and
tutorials.
For concepts: understanding is essential, and I will not ask you to recite.
o When a complicated formula is needed, it will be provided in the question.
o In the case you are asked about a concept, the exact wording is not the focus, your
understanding will be marked.
Try to link analytical tools with managerial context, and think how they will be used in
practice.
o This helps you link theory with managerial practice, and gives you a better
understanding of why a certain tool is designed in such a way.
