• In-text citation + Full reference（APA格式）
ü 必须要有至少 1 个 external source 作为 reference（英文链接）
Ø 作业要求：
• 自己选择一个能亲自去到的 neighbourhood（在国内的同学可以选择国内的
neighbourhood）进行分析
ü 一定要是自己能亲自去到的，因为 final paper需要你拍照
ü 请注意，一个省份、一个城市都不算是 neighbourhood，neighbourhood 是城市里
的一个分区（一个社区，不是国内“一个住宅小区”的概念）

Ø 内容：
第一段（约 100字）：你选的 neighbourhood在哪？
• 简单描述你选的 neighbourhood在哪个市的哪个位置，有没有名字等等
ü Parameter的意思是在地图上是什么位置，比如 North of Dundas Street，South of
College Street。要让读者能通过你的描述找到这个 neighbourhood在哪。
ü Instruction 里要求选择“urbanization 城市化”地区，方便写之后的 final paper（这
个 neighbourhood 需要包含居民区、商业零售类型、公共设施等等）。只能选择
rural （郊区）地区的同学需要主动找 TA 商量
第二段（约 200字）：写出你对 place的定义，并描述你选的 neighbourhood是什么样的
place。
• 首先写出 place的定义，你是如何去理解 place这个词的
ü 可以借鉴 lecture内容和 reading 内容（做好 citation）
• 其次描述你选的 neighbourhood（比如其中的 landscape）是什么样的 place
ü 这个地方是什么样子的？你认为这个地方给人带来什么感觉？这个地方有没有体现
什么样的 identity？这个地方有没有什么特殊的meaning？
ü 教授提供的思路方向（不是必须要写到的）：
o what global/regional/local connections have shaped the place? 什么样的全球/
区域/地方联系塑造了这个地方?
o Is there a particular form of collective memory associated with the place? 这个
地方是否有一种特殊形式的集体记忆?

o Is there a specific sense of place associated with the neighborhood? 周围是否
有一种特定的地方感?
第三段（约 200字）：你为什么选择这个 neighbourhood？你想去分析这个 neighbourhood的哪
方面？
• 你为什么要选择这个 neighbourhood？
ü 你对这个地方有特殊的记忆？这个地方的 identity跟你个人 identity有很强的联系？
你对这个地方感兴趣？
• 你去探索、分析这个地方，你期望你能从中发现什么 urban process？
ü 可以思考一下你的 final paper想往哪个方向去分析你选择的这个 neighbourhood。
这门课里出现的任何主题都是你可以选的方向（参考 syllabus里每周的 topic）
ü 任何 social process （体现了 urban地区的变化）的变化都可以
ü 比如课上讲过的 globalization，这个 neighbourhood受到了全球化贸易发展的影
响？这个 neighbourhood因为全球化贸易的发展，才建了很多商业大楼、外资企业
的大楼？
注意：如果有引用的地方，需要做好 citation，citation 不算进字数里
Ø 段落里需要带上 in-text citation（格式在后面）
Ø 整个作业写完，添加一个空白页，列出 full references（格式在后面）

Citation/Reference 格式：以下范例使用 APA 格式

• 以下是我写的范例，请谨慎参考
Ø APA 格式的 reference list（可以放在整个作业的最后，写上“Reference List”，然后列出 full
reference）
• APA format structure:
（book 类型的 source）作者. (出版年份). 文章 Title. 出版商.
（网页链接类型的 source）作者. (出版年份). 文章 Title. 网址：
• APA format example:
Bishop, P., Glidden, J., Lowery, M. & Riehlman, D. (1999). A Citizen’s Guide to
the Management of White- tailed Deer in Urban and Suburban New York.
Albany : New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
• 列出来的 full reference要按首字母顺序排列：从 A-Z的顺序
Ø APA格式的 in-text citation
• APA in-text structure：
ü (作者 last name, 出版年份, 页数（没有页数可以不写）)
• APA in-text example:
ü (Bishop et al., 1999, p. 1)
• 什么时候放 intext citation？
ü 如果你有 direct quotation，比如照搬原文的一句话放在““里（非常不建议有
direct quotation）
ü 如果你写的一句话里的信息是从文章中获取的，而不是常识的
• 在哪里写 intext citation？
ü 用在你写的句子后面的，不是用在你写的句子前面的，比如你写了“I am Abby”，而
你写的这句话是从文章里获取的信息，那你的 in-text citation 应该是 “I am Abby
(Bishop et al., 1999).”
