The Analysis refers to the case: "Food Shortage—Wicked Problem?”
Purpose and aims:
The Case Analysis is designed to apply the knowledge and skills we have developed in evaluating
the role of systems thinking in global and local sustainability challenges to a case study.
• The assessment has three parts
o Part A—Summarising
o Part B—Planning
o Part C—Case Study Report Writing
• All three parts will be completed as a handwritten task in-class
• You must refer to the Assessment 2 Required Reading for all three parts.
• Absence from one of these Assessment task parts will result in a zero grade for that part
• Formal Special Consideration for illness must be applied for in a timely manner.
• Details on each part are provided in the following pages.

Part A: Handwritten Summarising Task 250 Words
• Three questions: 2-3 sentence responses concerning the Assessment 2 Required Reading.
• At the end of the three questions, write a reference list citing the Assessment 2 Required
Reading and the Week 4 Prescribed Reading.
Question 1. State a relationship between the case and one target of an SDG.
Question 2. Read and summarise the supplied text from the Assessment 2 required reading.
Question 3. Find and interpret a statistic from the required reading as it relates to one
characteristic of a Wicked Problem (Excerpt of Week 4 reading supplied).

4. Using the Iceberg Model and systems thinking, address the wickedness of the problem.
