Assessment
Scenario

wants to upgrade the way they showcase their products by improving their user experience and
interface. You have been tasked by your manager to do a research and produce a report on user
experience and interface.

Task 1 (100 Marks)
You are required to write a report consisting of 1500 words (±150).
Include the following in the report:
• define and explain HCI and User Experience (UX)
• discuss 3 similarities and 3 differences between HCI and UX and
• explain how the underlying principles and guidelines of HCI, helps enhancing the HCI design
and user experience. Use the following as a guide:
o provide 4 principles with 2 examples each on how they enhance User Experience and
o provide 4 guidelines with 2 examples each on how they enhance User Experience.

Report Requirements
Use different sources such as scholarly journal articles (use Google scholar to locate these), IT news
sources such as Computerworld, and web pages from reliable sites.
1. The written report for presenting your research needs to have a formal structure. A
supplementary information is provided at the end of this assessment for your reference. The
following need to be included in the report:
• NZSE Assignment Cover Sheet
• Title Page
• Executive Summary
• Table of Contents
• Introduction
• Main Body (Headings and subheadings with contents)
• Conclusion
• References

3. Sections and pages will need to be numbered appropriately and contain well written
paragraphs that successfully communicate your ideas to the reader using succinct and
professional language. It is strongly recommended that automatic page numbering,
section headings and table of contents features in an appropriate word processor be used
when preparing the report. Remember you must provide in-text citations throughout
your report as well as including the references at the end of your report. Reports
submitted that do not contain the required sections and appropriate numbering of
sections and pages are unlikely to score highly when assessed.

4. All information is to be in your own words and not copied from the handouts, textbook,
