ASSESSMENT 3: GROUP PRESENTATION
Fintech Company
Online (via ZOOM)
During timetabled workshops
Value: 15% (Maximum 8 minutes)
Learning Outcomes
By completing this assessment, you will:
● evaluate the role of finance in shaping a good society.
● demonstrate skills in teamwork, oral and written communication
● evaluate complex problems relating to business and finance based on evidence-based
best practices and innovations.

Purpose

To conduct research related to fintech based on an example company and present your
findings via a group presentation.(The list of approved example companies will be
released in week 10)
Your assessment task
You will research a company (Australian or international) from the approved list, and
present in groups on how this company has disrupted the banking and finance
landscape through their implementation of Fintech.

Submission
● Peer Feedback is compulsory(on moodle)
● PPT submission prior to the online presentation(using the link on moodle)-one
submission per group.

INSTRUCTIONS

The link to online presentations will be available on moodle, by the start of week 12.
You will be working with your groups (same groups as before or join a new group), the
Minimum and maximum size of each group are 5 and 7. In your groups, you will be
required to research and investigate a sector within the banking and/or finance industry.
Your group will select a specific(real) company from the provided list and discuss:
● what does this company do, and what is the core technology used?
● how the company has implemented Fintech
● how it has disrupted the sector's existing business landscape and competition
environment.

In particular your report will identify the Fintech components being introduced or used to
identify disruption that is occurring due to their implementations. Your presentation will
include a detailed description of the innovative technology or process that is being used.
The list of approved companies will be available in week 10, and each group will then
have 2 weeks to prepare their presentation and deliver it during Week 12.
Group Presentation
All members of the group must present in the presentation. There should be equitable
representation of each group member within the presentation. Feedback fruits will
capture the peer evaluation in each group and be considered when marking. You may
use Powerpoint presentation software to support your presentation. However, your
presentation skills and confidence in your knowledge will be judged. Please do not simply
read from your PowerPoint presentation (communication skills are a component of this
assessment criteria).
In the case of group members from the different timetabled workshops, the group must
present during the seminar to which most students are allocated. For example, 4
students from Tuesday and 3 from Monday must present during the Tuesday workshop.

Special Considerations:
In an unforeseen circumstance, the students must apply for an SC to receive an
alternative arrangement. All SC applications are processed centrally at the school level,
and teaching staff are not involved in the process. Due to the “Group” nature of this
assignment, an extension isn’t appropriate, we may arrange an alternative and equivalent
form of your assessment(on an individual basis). If the outcome of your application is an
alternative assessment, you’ll need to complete it (you can’t get an extension instead).

Format and Referencing requirements

• For this assignment, you have the freedom to choose your reactive style and format.

• Your citations and Reference(all academic formats are accepted) list MUST appear at
the end of your presentations.
