ANTH0149 Creative Enterprise – Gregory Thompson

The course teaches creative techniques derived from the performing arts and creative practices for
application to enterprise activities. Students will acquire practical creative techniques and skills needed to
initiate, develop and expand creative business ideas. Students will discover how unusual methodologies
create novel solutions.
During the course students will examine and deploy a range of the technical, aesthetic, and creative
dynamics involved in creative practice and apply them to their own enterprise ideas. Students will
recognise the potential of creative techniques to finding innovative ways to develop their enterprise
activities; and explore ways to manifest them in new and exciting ways. The course is practice-based and
students are expected to apply the learning each week to their own enterprise ideas.
The aim of the course is to discover something novel and valuable that helps you (1) find a distinctive
niche for your enterprise ideas; (2) to make your enterprise ideas manifest; and (3) provides some
valuable options for how you might deliver value to customers.
By the end of this module you should be able to demonstrate practical strategies for innovation.
Learning outcomes to be assessed:
1. Understanding of the course framework and the application of creative processes to your enterprise
ideas.
2. The ability to reflect on and learn from creative experiments.
3. The ability to generate ideas and content that serves the development of an enterprise.
4. Show the required steps to identify a distinctive enterprise position.
Submission requirements.

ANTH0149: Creative Enterprise is examined by a creative experiment: an application of a creative
technique to develop an aspect or aspects of your enterprise together with an accompanying commentary
(100%).
Formative assessments:

Three 45 second video presentations on your enterprise ideas and any progress so far. It could include
your enterprise experience; your understanding of how your ideas might help people; and your hopes for
what it might become. Video 2 might be a revision or development of Video 1, and Video 3 a revision or
development of Video 2; or Videos 2 and 3 might be new or different ideas.
Video 1 to be shared by 1pm on Thursday 10th October 2024.
Video 2 to be shared by 1pm on Thursday 24th October 2024.
Video 3 to be shared by 1pm on Thursday 14th November 2024.
Students may present a Creative Experiment to the class in the Workshop on 20th November 2024 to get
feedback before the Assignment on the next page (see over).

ANTH0149 Assignment Briefing Sheet: Creative Experiment Portfolio

Assignment Description:

Drawing upon the ideas and exercises given in class, use the creative techniques to generate new,
surprising, and valuable possibilities to the questions facing your enterprise. The commentary will include
the brief or challenge you set yourself and a reflective diary and description of the processes, outcomes
and modifications followed.
The Creative Experiment Portfolio includes (1) a description of the development of the student’s enterprise
ideas over the term in response to the creative prompts in the workshops; (2) the application of a
particular creative practice to develop an aspect of the enterprise in an unusual, unexpected, or
unorthodox way; and (3) a reflection of what was experienced and learned from the application of creative
practice. 
Assignment Marking:

Development of ideas over the term. Identify some next steps or new possibilities for your enterprise
idea or ideas. What do you want to achieve? What questions do you have? What problems do you face?
These could be in the area of Product or Service (what you might do for your customers) or Delivery (how
you might deliver what you do). (25%).
Creative experiment. A creative experiment to make manifest one or more of your enterprise ideas, or an
aspect of one or more of your ideas. This should include a clear objective or question; a creative strategy to
employ; and a description of its execution and result. (50%).
Reflection. Articulate what you learned from engaging in your creative experiment, and what it means for
the development of your enterprise. (25%).
This assignment is worth 100% of the assessment for this course.

Students must complete their documentation individually but may collaborate on their creative
experiments.
