Submission: Upload to Quercus File type: Word Document 1.5 pages SINGLE space 12-point Times New Roman NOTE: The first line of a paragraph MUST be indented. A paragraph should consist of 6 – 8 SENTENCES. Do NOT include additional spaces between the paragraphs. You MUST use in-text citations when containing words that are not your own. Each student will write a 1.5 SINGLE spaced response paper on the SAME article they responded to for their vlog. The assignment’s goal is to present your own well-developed response to the arguments being made by the author(s) of the reading you presented. Although you presented as a group, this paper is an INDIVIDUAL response. Group members should NOT work together or submit the same paper. Do NOT INCLUDE SUBHEADINGS. In other words, do NOT include the words Introduction, summary, etc. Write your paper in paragraph form. See below Your paper MUST include An introduction The introduction should include a topic sentence and an outline of your paper. If a reader only reads your introduction, they should have a very clear sense of what your paper will contain. A summary of the author(s) main arguments Tip: You are NOT expected to summarize the entire reading. You should identify the key arguments and focus on the main ideas presented by the author and focus on those issues and RESPOND to the statements being made. Clearly explain your point of view on the topic being discussed/2 quotes from Week 2 EXPLAIN your point of view on the topic being discussed by the author. TWO direct quotes from any of the readings of Week 2 to strengthen your arguments Please ensure to include in-text citation These quotes must relate to your arguments. Use the readings from week 2 to help support your arguments. Ensure you have TWO different quotes included. Media example Explain your video or image media example. Explain how it relates to the reading and why it is included. Note the media example can NOT be a media example discussed in the class or the readings. A conclusion The paper should end with you once again restating your primary point of view alongside the author(s). Tip: If a reader only reads your conclusion, they should have a very clear sense of what was discussed in the paper and your point of view on the topic. A reference list The reference list is NOT included in the page count. Your reference list should consist of the reading you respond to and any other reading or media examples you quoted in your paper. The student failed to summarize the reading or the summary was too short and lack content The student only briefly presented the main points of the reading, and or they left out key aspects of the reading. The student successfully identified and presented the key arguments in the reading. 0- 5 points 6 -14 points 15-20 points /20 Did the student explain their point of view? The student failed to explain their point of view on the topic, or their explanation was too short and underdeveloped. The student only vaguely explained their point of view.
