ELEC4320 Assignment 3 Research Report and presentation

The written research report is due on October 31, 2025 17:00. In Week 13 you are to present a
five-minute PowerPoint presentation summarizing your report. (More information will be
provided in Week 11. The presentation slides are not required to be submitted with the report on
the 31th October.)

Research Report:

A. Students will nominate a particular type of power system asset that they wish to study.
B. They will prepare a report including:
1. possible failure modes of the asset based on a review of literature
2. descriptions of several commercially-available condition monitoring systems identified
by internet searches
3. a discussion about the potential costs and benefits of the monitoring systems.
C: Students must provide a bibliography that lists all references. All material included in the
report must be supported by an appropriate reference.

About 6-8 pages are required (in font Times New Roman size 12). Long lists or Tables should be
summarized to restrict the length of your report. Appropriately numbered Figures may be
appended to the report only if they are referred to and discussed in the main text.

ELEC4320: 10% report and 10% presentation. See table below for criteria.
