Lecture 1 Lecture 1 FINM7401: Finance Individual Project: Information Dr Dewan Rahman Recall: Assessment 2 Lecture 1 In-Semester Exam 20% Equity Valuation Project 30% Final Exam 50% Individual Project (30%) • Project is due at 4pm on Friday 8th May 2026 • What you need to do in the assignment: - Collect data from CapitalIQ - Calculation, numerical analysis, discussion - Write a report • The assignment has been released on BB under Assessment > Individual Project 3 Lecture 1 Submission • Read the document “Individual project submission guidelines” • You must include all solutions in ONE single PDF file. When you save your document, name it as “LastName_FirstName_FINM7401assign.pdf” • Submission through Blackboard: - Blackboard Submission: Use “Individual Assignment Submission HERE” link. Submit the PDF file. The submission through this BB link will be graded. • You must save the official DIGITAL PROOF/RECEIPT when submitting the assignment. In the event of any disputes, this will be your proof of submission. • Late penalties apply! 10% per calendar day (or part thereof)! Don’t submit at the last minute! DEADLINE: Penalties start from 4.01pm. 4 Lecture 1 Problem Set • Goal: apply the theoretical knowledge you learnt during the lectures to a practical case. • Case study: Downloading data from CapitalIQ and estimating a stock price using the Dividend Discount Method and the Comparable Method • Some of the questions might go beyond what we covered during the lectures. You are required to do additional readings. • The case is worth 41 points and you also get 4 points for clear presentation and writing (total = 45 points) • Read carefully the main instructions (page 1). • Your final document (PDF) must contain all your answers and workings to the different questions (including results and tables from Excel if you used it). • Do not start at the last minute! You probably need 15-20 hours to complete the entire assignment. 5 Lecture 1 Q&A Individual Project • A special in-class session about the project will be held in Week 5 during the Lecture time: - Thursday, March 26 from 6pm to 9pm - It will be led by a guest lecturer and Dr Sabina Yesmine - Dr Sabina will present the case and provide additional information about CapitalIQ - She will discuss the questions you sent her and answer any new questions you have. • Send your questions by email to Sabina (s.yesmine@uq.edu.au) before Wednesday 25th March, 1pm • She will compile all the questions in a document and answer them during the session (no response per email) • The session will be recorded and posted on BB 6 Lecture 1
