For this coursework, you are required to compile an individual portfolio of work consisting of: 1. Business Process Model 2. Gap analysis 3. Data model 4. Business Model proposition 5. Reflective report DELIVERABLES 1. Business Process Model You will take responsibility for the design of a key business process that the university needs to support the tracking of student engagement. You will need to develop a process model for your chosen business process, which will clearly show the essential activities needed to deliver an effective service for tracking student engagement. Note: You need to think wider than just modelling the interactions between the actor and the Student Engagement Application. You need to capture the underlying business process that supports a new/improved service that will be provided by the Student Engagement Application. 2. Gap analysis Provide gap analysis based on EACH of the activities in your process model to: • critically evaluate the current situation • provide your justified recommendations for the future situation, assuming that your business process and associated service for tracking student engagement are developed by the university. Business Model proposition The university has decided to set up a spin-off company to commercialise the ‘Tracking Students’ Engagement’ system, and you have been asked to propose a business model for this company. - Write a document, which explains the new company’s value proposition and revenue model (max 2 pages). - Carry out Porter’s Five Forces analysis to identify the industry competition and suggest ways of achieving the new company’s competitive advantage and strategic positioning (max 2 pages). 5. Reflective report Write a concise individual critical self-reflective report (max 2 pages), in which you: - reflect on your learning process, practices and outcomes whilst working on the project, and discuss how skills you have acquired or enhanced will improve your future learning; - provide THREE recommendations for change to promote team working next year. Note: not having team working is not an option. The critical self-reflective report may consider following questions (Note: these are only suggestions and you may wish to adopt these to suit your reflection’s focus and circumstances.): - What did you do particularly well during the project, and what could be improved? - Was you contribution to team work as well as independent learning effective? - What did you learn from producing the assignment? E.g. about yourself, the subject, your planning and time management skills, your motivation, etc. - What would you do differently next time and what would have enabled you to do a better job? - Do you honestly believe that you have performed to the best of your ability? How this can be evidenced (justified)? You should avoid being too descriptive and not focusing on what you did in terms of actual work for the module.
