COMP2011 Final on Canvas Date and Time: May 27 (Thursday), 1:00pm – 3:25pm (log on Zoom invigilation meeting 12:15pm (batch 1) or 12:35pm (batch 2)) Coverage: Everything learned in Spring. Self-study topics, including File I/O and C++ String, are not covered in the final exam. Format: The final exam consists of three 45-minute parts conducted on COMP2011 Canvas -> Quizzes, with 5-minute refreshment break in between. Each part of the exam consists of short answer question(s) and long coding question(s). You can browse forward/backward within each part of the exam. The answers for each part will be collected at the end of the part. After submitting your answers, you cannot re-visit (nor revise) them anymore. Reference materials: This is a closed book, closed notes final exam. No cheat sheet, no online compiler. You can’t use any electronic reference materials on laptop/iPad/PC. You are allowed to use blank paper sheets for your rough work. Detailed final schedule on May 27 (Thursday): The exact schedule may be adjusted should any unforeseeable technical or nontechnical problems occur. Please pay attention to Canvas announcements as we will use that to announce any latest update if any technical issues arise. Students with Special Education Needs (SEN) will receive individual email from the instructors with customized final schedule. Time Activity 6pm (May 26) Your Zoom exam meeting ID and Zoom meeting log in time will be announced at the following URL which will be active at 6pm May 26 (the day before the exam). http://cgi.cs.ust.hk/~wallacem/cgi-bin/comp2011-final-group/ If, by 9am on the exam day, you still cannot find your meeting ID, send an email to wallacem@cse.ust.hk. Before 11:00am The Mock final will be available on May 25. Try the Mock final (COMP2011 Canvas --> Quizzes) at any time before May 27 11am. Note the Mock final carries 0 point. But it is highly recommended that everyone take the chance to verify the browser setting, test the Internet connection and get familiar with working with Canvas. Invigilation Setup check 12:15pm (batch 1) Log in Zoom with your ITSC account. Join your own exam Zoom meeting with you *mobile phone*, turn on your camera. Your video in Zoom meeting should be similar as shown below: 12:35pm (batch 2) Have (1) your HKUST student ID or (2) your Hong Kong ID or your country’s passport ready for checking. You can cover the ID number when showing it to the invigilator. Connect your mobile phone to power charger, make sure it won’t run out of battery during the whole exam. You can leave your table once the TA finishes the camera setup checking. Keep your camera ON and at the same position until the end of exam. Note: Display your real name (given name first then family name) in Zoom meeting. No virtual background is allowed. Only one laptop/PC is allowed during the exam. If you have additional laptop/PC in your room, you must turn it off. Otherwise we’ll consider it as an attempt to plagiarism. The full computer screen should be visible in Zoom video. There is no strong reflection on the screen so Canvas ‘red bar’ is visible. Your both hands, keyboard, reference materials and draft papers are visible. No headphone or air pods. You’re highly recommended to test the invigilation setup *beforehand*. You may consider to purchase a tripod stand for use of all online exams. Break (5-min) 12:55pm to 12:59pm Refreshment break Note you’re not allowed to leave your table during the whole period of each part in the final, even if you submitted the online quiz early. Part A (45-min) 1:00pm to 1:45pm Final Part A will be automatically released on COMP2011 Canvas Quizzes. Voice out immediately if you encounter any difficulties in loading the exam paper. Note: You can only access Internet browser with single tab on Canvas during the final. Access to other websites and programs on your computer is treated as attempt to plagiarism. No calculator and other electronic devices. You will most likely need a few pieces of draft paper. All your activities on Canvas and Zoom will be recorded. Please mute yourself but keep the speaker on in Zoom meeting during the exam. No Q&A will be provided during the exam. Manage your time well. Don’t get stuck too long in one single question. You can move on to the next question and come back later. Break (5-min) 1:45pm to 1:50pm Your camera should be ON and your Zoom meeting is connected during the whole examination period, including the refreshment breaks. Make sure your mobile phone is plugged with power. Take the break to use bathroom, drink water, etc. Part B (45-min) 1:50pm to 2:35pm Final Part B will be automatically released on COMP2011 Canvas Quizzes. Break (5-min) 2:35pm to 2:40pm Part C (45-min) 2:40pm to 3:25pm Final Part C will be automatically released on COMP2011 Canvas Quizzes. Advice on the use of Web browser for smooth access to Canvas during the exam: 1. Chrome or Firefox is preferred. 2. If you use Safari 13.1 on Mac, disable cross-site tracking or you might not be able to view images in questions. 3. Update your preferred Web browser to the latest version. 4. If you are having any other issues, you may try to clear the cache. Update your Zoom to the latest version on your device BEFORE the exam. Instructions for the setup of your two computing devices A and B 1. Device A: a computer where you log onto our course Canvas and take the exam. You should not open any other programs on that computer, nor move your mouse away from Canvas at any time. 2. Device B: join Zoom meeting with video ALWAYS ON, speaker ALWAYS ON, and microphone ALWAYS MUTED. No virtual background allowed.
