This is an individual assignment representing 100% of the overall mark for the module.  

The business and operation of logistics is complicated driven by different contextual factors. The COVID-19 for example, has impacted the business and operations of logistics service providers (LSPs) all over the world and LSPs have to respond accordingly to this situation.

Assignment questions: Use two LSPs as your choice,

 1)  Identify AND analyse the similarities and differences of the following two elements:

a) the impacts that covid-19 had on the two LSPs of your choice and explain why there are such similarities and differences.

b) how the two LSPs respond to the covid-19 for their business and operations and explain why there are such similarities and differences as well as appraise/evaluate their response. 

2)  Suggest how the two LSPs should further develop its business for the next couple of years (still covid-19 or potentially post covid-19 period)

 Scope of analysis

  •  For this assignment, an LSP is broadly defined as any business that provides logistics services. LSPs can be for example, carriers, freight forwarders, thirdparty logistics service providers or fourth-party logistics service providers. You are free to choose any type of LSPs. 
  • Feel free to define/delimit your scope of analysis for the chosen LSPs (e.g. specific type of services OR specific type(s) of supply chains that they serve, OR one specific geographical region that the LSP operate, OR one specific subsidiary of the chosen LSP) 

Assignment/report Structure

Start with a brief AND concise introduction to the issue of interests, the chosen company, and scope of analysis etc. Keep the main focus of the report on answering the questions. Feel free to place details of the general information of the chosen company, which is less relevant for your core analysis in the Appendix.

On the front page, students should include the following:

       • Name and student number

• Title of coursework

• Module code and title

• Word counts of the assignment 

The assignment should be completed as a 3,000-word (+/-10%) report (excluding references, tables, figures, and appendices). It should be thoroughly researched with all sources and references fully acknowledged. Guidelines on referencing are available from the library. It is important for the quality of your argument to include a considerable number of references from reliable literature sources in your assignment.

 The assignment must be submitted electronically in the BST827 module portal by 11:00 am on Tuesday, 13 July, 2021(UK time). If there are any special circumstances meaning that you are unable to meet the submission deadline, you must obtain an extension in advance following the procedure set out overleaf. Any unauthorised late submissions will receive a ZERO mark.
