BACKGROUND You are an independent cost engineer and you have been asked to provide a tender estimate and schedule for the extension of the Northcote Cycleway Route which is a shared east-west active transport route (in both directions). A complete set of construction plans are attached to this assignment brief. Completion of this off-road shared walking/cycle path will provide improved safety for cyclists and pedestrian users both commuter and recreational. TECHNIQUES TO BE USED The Methvin® cost estimation tools will be presented on Friday, 24th Sept (9:00 – 12:00 noon). These tools include a Takeoff Tool, a Gantt Scheduler and a Methvin Estimating Tool. To be eligible for the prize money you need to use the Methvin methodologies. You have the option of using any other methodologies but would not qualify for any Prize Money. REQUIREMENT Using the drawings supplied: • Calculate the schedule of quantities for the Cycleway Construction Project using the Takeoff Tool • Provide an estimate using the Gantt Scheduler for the construction of the project • Provide a Construction Cost Estimate for the shared Cycleway Project, including Labour, Plant, Materials, Risk, Contingency and Overheads. • Clearly label any assumptions made or limitations.
