ACCT 3011: Financial Accounting B
Semester 2, 2021
Information on the Final Examination
Monday 29 November 2021. 1:00pm (Sydney time).
1. Time, date, duration, and the online ProctorU approach:
The duration of the final examination is 130 minutes. This time includes the 120
minutes examination time and 10 minutes of reading time. However, given that this is
a Proctored exam, you are allowed to write during the 10 minutes of reading time. There
are some limited exceptions to this timing for our disability students, who will be
separately advised of their distinct exam timing.
Buffer time: You will be allowed a buffer time of 40 minutes in case you experience
any technical issues starting your exam. This means that you have 40 minutes from the
start time to actually begin the exam and still get the full time allowed to complete the
exam. If you are unable to start your exam within that buffer time, you should apply for
special consideration. Buffer time does NOT mean you have extra time to complete your
exam.
Please keep track of your time. Your timer may not update if you have an Internet
connection issue. Please use the time on your computer so that you always know how
much time you have left. Only questions completed within the exam time will be
marked.
If you have an academic adjustment, it will be added automatically. Watch this video
outlining how to check your time adjustments if you would like to confirm them.
Your exam will automatically submit when your time is up or at the end of the buffer
time, whichever comes first.
As you have already been advised, your exam will be undertaken on-line through
ProctorU, and will be taking place over Review+. This involves AI software launching
your test and monitoring you. Following completion of the test, recordings are reviewed
and suspicious activity is flagged with coordinators and relevant academic integrity
staff. Ahead of the exam, you should read the site 'taking online tests' and the pages
regarding preparing for your test. At this point, please ensure that you're reviewing the
activities that should be happening in the weeks prior to the test. Note, though, that
because your exam has a fixed date and time, that you do not need to schedule your
exam (step 4). An FAQ can be found here and any further questions you have about
Review+ can be sent to the Student Centre.
If you have clashes with other classes or tests, please contact Business School
Exams with your name, SID, and the details of your clash, and they will attempt to
either resolve your clash or reschedule one of your tests to the replacement test period.

Information about how you will access the exam will made available in the days leading
up to your test.
The final examination is a closed book examination. This means no other materials are
allowed. No paper is to be used for workings but feel free to use the answer boxes
provided under each question to show your workings.
2. Coverage: The final examination will cover materials from week 6 to
week 12 inclusive (week 13 is our review week so there will be no new materials). We
can’t examine every topic from weeks 6-12, but all of weeks 6 -12 is examinable.
Although materials from weeks 1-5 are not directly examined in the final exam, some
of the topics from weeks 6-12 require your appreciation/understanding of the materials
from weeks 1-5. For example, to better understand the NCI topic in week 6, you need
to have a good understanding of the consolidation process covered in weeks 2 to 5.
3. Questions: The final examination is out of 100 marks and will be
converted to contribute 50% to your final aggregate mark for the unit. To pass this unit
of study, you must achieve at least 45% of the available marks in the final examination.
There will be five (5) sections in both the final main exam and the replacement exam.
The questions are divided roughly evenly between numerical questions and short
answer/essay questions. The online format of the exam will provide space for you to
type in your responses.
4. Suggested Preparation Tips:
• Review your lecture slides including those lecture examples
• Review your tutorial presentation questions and the summary documents provided
by presenting groups. The materials from presentation questions are examinable.
• Review and reattempt tutorial practical questions
• Go through the ‘test your understanding’ questions and the recap videos
• Attempt the practice questions available in the ‘assessment’ folder on Canvas
Good Luck from the Financial Accounting B team!
