TASK SHEET: ECONOMICS ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY C – INDIVIDUAL REPORT

TASK OUTLINE:

For this task, you are required to write an individual report (1500 words) based on your findings regarding recent economic issues. Your
report should follow the following format:

• Introduction

o Briefly discuss the economic concept(s) that will be addressed in the report
o Using economic data, briefly discuss how the economic concept(s) contribute to economic growth.
o Outline the structure of the report.

• Body

o Explain the Australian government's economic objectives plus targets
o Using economic data clearly discuss how the selected topic contributes to economic growth through balance of payment
(Hint: components of balance of payments are relevant in this case).
o Explain the exchange rate policy in Australia. Discuss how the selected topic affects the price of the Australian dollar and
economic growth.
o Discuss at least one (1) microeconomic reform implemented, or is currently under review by the Federal Government
within the last ten (10) years and the potential impact on the economic objectives in relation to your chosen topic
o Discuss the fiscal policy through the government budget, and it’s effect on unemployment, inflation and economic growth
in relation to your chosen topic
o Discuss the potential costs and benefits of government policy in achieving economic growth and economic stability. Why
is it significant to achieve sustained economic growth? (Hint: Concepts of opportunity cost, social and private cost, social
benefits are relevant to this discussion.)

• Summary and Conclusion of the entire Report/Essay

o Provide a summary of the report, discussing key points of the report.
o Evaluate the performance of Australia’s economic policies in achieving economic stability.
o Write a concluding statement.

• Appendix

o Present a proposal to communicate the key points and basic ideas of your report.

• References
o Include four (4) or more references to demonstrate your research, which you have used to support your discussion
within your report. Sources can include journal articles, newspaper articles, economic data and government websites. All
sources must be correctly referenced according to APA or Harvard referencing guide.

• Presentation
o You must use the recommended template for this assignment. Your report must be typed and presented in English.

SUBMISSION METHOD: Submit online via Moodle / Economics (Turnitin)
LATE SUBMISSIONS:
Written and spoken assessment tasks submitted or performed after the due date without an approved
extension of time will ordinarily be met with a penalty of 5% of the awarded score per working day
late, up to a maximum of five (5) working days.

For assessments submitted/performed after five (5) working days, a grade of 0% may be applied.
Requesting an assignment extension: if a student wishes to apply for an assignment extension, they
need to fill out and submit the “Request an extension for an assignment” form found in Academic
Support in Moodle at least 24 hours before the due date of their assessment item and provide any
relevant supporting evidence (e.g. medical certificate, letter from parent/homestay, “Full screen”
