Instructions:
A. Please state the topic clearly in the beginning and a subtitle would be appreciated if it could help
the teacher better understand your idea.
B. A brief description of the experience which should include the name of the production, the main
creatives and where the performance was including the date.
C. Structure of your arts review:
Your arts review is recommended to include the following parts, but the structure of it is
based on the flow of your ideas.
PLOT
Try to give a brief description of the story
THEMES AND ISSUES
Outline the important themes and issues of the production.
Discuss the creator’s interpretation of the text or the concept
and how the style and form of the production communicates
the its themes.

ANALYSE CHARACTERS
Describe and analyse the characters. (Often the main two)
Talk about the character’s motivation or objectives.
(Optional)
EVALUATE THE
PERFORMER
Choose two performers and evaluate their performance.
(Optional)
ELEMENTS OF THE
PRODUCTION
Discuss how effective you think the use of sound, lighting,
set and costume were in the performance.
D. Word limit: from 700 to 1000 words (excluding other written materials added in association).
Remarks: Word count should be stated in the end of your writing.

1. What is the performance called?
2. Who is the director?
3. Who is the designer?
4. Who wrote it?
for you to start the review:
1. What is the style of performance?
2. Is it a comedy, a tragedy, absurd, naturalistic or postmodern?
3. Does the performance meet your expectation?
4. Explain how this is portrayed in the performance, (ie techniques).
5. How effective the production conveys the main theme?
6. How inspiring is the production?
7. What affect does it have on you?
8. What’s missing, what’s worth seeing, what it is you value the most from the production?
9. Are there anything you want to “change” in the performance?
Criteria
Originality Your perspectives/ ideas are original and convincing.
Clarity Your perspectives/ ideas are clearly laid out. The art review is clear and concise.
Creative Interpretation There is no right or wrong. Allow yourself to develop your own distinctive
voice, and be honest about what you really think about a production: convey your enthusiasm for it or
explain why you disliked it.
Analytical Show subjective feeling or judgment with further evaluation and supporting
