(4) State and briefly explain whether the statements below refer to descriptive or inferential
statistics.
(a) The proportion of companies with three or more women in corporate board
rooms is expected to grow from the current 15% to 22% in the next five years.
(b) The median age of employees in the services sector is estimated to increase by
three years to 39 years in the next two years.
(c) In a survey of twenty persons who have just turned 62, 50% said that they
would like to work until they are 67.

(5) A company carried out an employee satisfaction survey in view of the recent high
resignation rate in the company. Many employees have concerns over the
confidentiality of the information that they provide in the survey and decided not to
provide any negative feedback. What type of research bias might this result in? Explain
the bias stated.

(6) For each of the following situations stated below identify which refers to a population
and which refers to a sample.
(a) 50 business graduates who entered the job market five years ago were randomly
selected for a survey about their job progression.
(b) The results of all 500 candidates who sat for the 2021 Real Estate Salesperson
Examination were analysed.

(7) All candidates who applied for management trainee posts in a company were required
to sit for an aptitude test. The scores of these applicants are shown in the stem and leaf
diagram below:

You are the chief research analyst to the Consultant of a management-consulting firm. Your
client is a large public accounting. Its audit division has 5 teams in the organization. Employee
turnover rate was high and your firm has been commissioned to carry out an independent
Employee Satisfaction survey of its staff in this division.
The Consultant has decided to do a preliminary study by surveying a sample of 50 audit staff.
This was done by randomly selecting 10 employees from each Team and getting the responses
via an online questionnaire which all selected employees have to respond.
The questionnaire used to collect the data is shown below:
