EAE1011 Poster Project – Weeks 7-12, Semester 1 2022
This is worth 15% of your semester mark for EAE1011.
Your task is to, as an individual or as a group, research the EAE topic which you are given by email at
the end of week 7 of semester, and summarise your research results both in a poster and as a
2-minute voice recording discussing the poster content, both of which are to be uploaded to the
EAE1011 Moodle website by 10pm on Wednesday 25th May 2022 in Week 12. Assistance will be
given in all Help Sessions during semester.
You will be surveyed by email in Week 7 of semester to determine the broad area of EAE that you
would like to do a poster on, and you will then be emailed a specific topic for your poster research at
the end of Week 7 of semester.
You can choose whether to do this task as an individual or as part of a group of 3-5 students.
You will be surveyed by email in Week 7 of semester as to whether you want to work as an
individual or as a group, and groups will be allocated in Week 7 of semester. Note: Once you have
been allocated to a group, you need to stay with that group for the project’s duration.
Your Research:
Your poster content should show an appreciation for, and an understanding of, the issues involved in
your topic, and an original assessment of them.
Your poster content should be based on at least 5 (five) peer-reviewed scientific papers published
in the last 5 years which are directly relevant to your poster topic. This means that your finished
poster should have at least five references. All references used must be correctly cited using the
Harvard system. See https://guides.lib.monash.edu/citing-referencing/harvard for information on
referencing.
If you are working as a group, all group members should share and discuss all of the papers, so that
all group members are familiar with their contents, and then prepare your poster as a group. Do not
subdivide the work – all group members should contribute equally to all tasks.
How do I make a Poster?
A very basic poster (with too many words) about Basic Poster Preparation is available in the Poster
Project section of the “Projects” section of the EAE1011 Moodle Website. Please note that as your
poster will be viewed digitally on a computer screen, it is recommended that for the main poster
text you do not drop below a 10pt text size in a standard PowerPoint slide format. Smaller text may
be difficult for the markers to read, but smaller text can be used for listing your references.
Your 5 peer-reviewed papers from the past 5 years must be cited in your poster text (where
relevant), and listed in a “references” section on your poster. Additional references used should be
cited in the poster text and then listed on a separate page, and uploaded as an additional pdf file.
IMPORTANT: The Title at the top of your poster MUST start with your Poster Topic number (see the
next page), and have your full name listed under the poster title. If it is a group project, ALL group
members’ full names must appear on your poster under the title.

What should I/we say in our voice recording?
This should discuss the findings of your research, without simply reading the poster content. Talk
about what you discovered doing the research, and how the papers you read contribute to the
knowledge that you have presented in your poster. In the case of a group project, all group members
should contribute to the recording. One easy way of doing this would be to record this in a Zoom
group meeting set to record to your own computer, and then edit and upload the mp3 voice
recording generated. Another way is to make your poster in PowerPoint, and then select “Slide
Show”, “Record Slide Show” to record you talking about your poster to that file.
Submitting your work:
Your poster and voice recording must be uploaded to the Poster Project folder in the “Projects”
section of the EAE1011 Moodle Website by 10pm on Wednesday 25th May in Week 12.
All of your file name(s) MUST start with your poster topic number, and contain your name – see
below.
Your poster should be saved in one of these formats, and be less than 500Mb in size:
 PDF format: .pdf, (our preferred format) or
 PowerPoint format: .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppts format, or
 JPG format: .jpg, or .jpeg
Your voice recording should be saved in one of these formats, and be less than 500Mb in size:
 a voiceover as part of a PowerPoint file, or
 as an .mp3 or .wav file.
Any additional references (over the first five) should be cited Harvard style and saved and uploaded
as a .pdf file.
Important: Other file formats will not be accepted.
Poster Topic number and naming your files:
You will be allocated a poster topic which starts with a number, e.g.,
3.15 Investigate the relationship between working from home and increased chocolate
consumption.
In this case, your poster title and all your uploaded file names must start with 3.15, and your file
name should contain your name e.g.:
 Poster Title: 3.15 Chocoholics unite – working from home is fattening
 File Name: 3.15_Eloise_Bridgerton_EAE1011Poster.pdf
In the case of a Group Poster, your filename must include at least one (or more) group member’s
name(s), e.g.,
 File Name: 3.15_Colin_Bridgerton_Penelope_Featherington_EAE1011Poster.pdf
Remember: All of your uploaded files for assessment must start with your poster topic number.

Assessment:
Your assessment will be based both on the design and content of the poster, and also on your voice
recording discussing the poster content.
Your poster, and your voice recording, will be marked by the EAE1011 teaching staff.
 The poster will be marked out of 11.
 Your voice recording will be marked out of 4.
This mark will be added to your poster mark to give you a final mark out of 15.

Group Advice:
Students undertaking this task as a group will all receive the same mark as each other (with one
exception, see **below).
If you are doing this assessment task as a group, do not subdivide the tasks amongst the group.
Subdividing tasks often results in one group member not pulling their weight, and may reduce the
entire group’s mark as a result. All group members should work together on all aspects of this
project work. You need to be familiar with all aspects of your poster topic.
** Where it is believed that a group member has not contributed significantly to the
research and preparation of this Assignment, the other group members may be polled, and
the marks of the member who has not contributed may be reduced accordingly.

(accidental or deliberate) from journals, textbooks, or electronic sources, and for similarity to
previously submitted work at Monash (even your own work).
