The information that follows is in addition to the information set out in the INFS2050 Assignment
Details document that will be available shortly.
You will be required to prepare a data governance business case for two small case studies
(Case 1 and Case 2) by applying relevant data governance concepts that you have studied
over the course of this unit of study. Whilst the cases will be different to the three cases we
have examined in class, the requirements will follow a similar format to what we have done in our
weekly tutorial classes. That is:
1. examining the problem situation using rich pictures, Analysis 1 (owner issues), Analysis 2
(culture), Analysis 3 (power);
2. undertaking a CATWOE analysis;
3. developing a root definition
Details of the cases, together with marking rubric, will be released on Monday 23rd May 9:00am
(AEST). The cases will be made available in the Assignments section
(https://canvas.sydney.edu.au/courses/38974/assignments) (see course navigation menu) on the
release date.
Each case will be weighted the same, that is 50% of the total mark, or 22.5 marks each.
The assignment will need to be submitted on Canvas by Friday 27th May Midnight (AEDT)
You should be able to complete the assignment in the time that is usually dedicated to preparing
for (ie. 3-6 hours) and attending class (ie. 1.5 hour lecture and 1.5 hour tutorial) for the week, in
total 6 to 9 hours. However, to accommodate for different time zones and other variables that may
impact upon your studies, you will have the week to complete the assignment.
