FINAL EXAM INFORMATION

This exam is in the form of a timed Wattle exam, and it accounts for 60% of the overall course mark.
You will find the exam on the course Wattle page.

When is the exam and how long is it for?

 Students should check the ANU examination timetable for the exam date and time. Note that the
exam time stipulated on the timetable website is Canberra time.

 The duration of the exam is 195 minutes. This includes 15 minutes reading time at the start of the
exam.

During reading time, you can start writing if you wish. However, during this time, I will be available
on Zoom (https://anu.zoom.us/j/7886258323?pwd=QlphZlk1dzZrdTVaRlZWUlhmK2NMQT09;
Meeting ID: 788 625 8323 Password: 035400) to clarify any questions. As such, you are advised to
use this time as intended.

What tools or equipment do I need?
 Software: Zoom, Wattle quiz

 Hardware: It is recommended that you use a desktop or a laptop. You are advised against using
a tablet or smartphone because of potential display issues. The following are ways to address
display issues:
o close the Wattle navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen
o maximise the browser window on your computer to ensure all text is visible. If some
text is still not visible when the window is displayed on the full screen, try minimising
the text font size by pressing CTRL + "-" (on PC) or COMMAND + "-" (on Mac) so
that all of the text fits in the window
o increase the screen resolution of your computer monitor.

 Internet: You need to have a reliable internet connection. You may wish to consider having a
back up internet connection. This could take the form of using your phone as a hotspot in the
event of internet failure on your computer.

 Permitted materials: any material

What is the format of the exam and what does the exam cover?

 Format: MCQ (10-20 questions); Calculation questions: 20-30 questions

MCQ (10-20 questions)
--For each MCQ, there is only one correct answer.

Calculation questions: 20-30 questions

--For calculation questions you only need to give the final result. E.g. you don’t need to show
your working process. Please be very careful during your calculation process, as all questions
will be marked by computers. If you give the wrong answer, you will not get any mark.
2

--Some calculation questions might involve numbers with decimals. In this case, if you need
to calculate Reducing Balancing Rate and the rate has more than 4 decimals, keep 3 decimals
using the rule “if the fourth decimal is less than 5, then round down, otherwise, round up.” For
any other numbers, please round to the nearest dollar.

- For any question involves decimals, I will make sure that the answer will be correct as long
as your answer is within +/-(2) of the correct answer, e.g. if the correct answer is 60, you answer
will be correct if it is from 58~~62. So don’t worry too much about the rounding.

-For questions asking you to calculate profit or loss, if it’s a loss, use a negative sign. For
example, if the question is “ABC limited earned $400 revenue and incurred $500 expenses,
what’s the profit (loss) for ABC limited”, The correct answer should be: -100. On the other
hand, if the question says “ABC limited earned $600 revenue and incurred $500 expenses,
what’s the profit (loss) for ABC limited”, the correct answer should be: 100.

This exam allows you to backtrack to previously attempted questions. You can therefore go
back to previous questions, even if they were unanswered.

is academic misconduct in relation to an assessment.
 Students submitting a take-home exam, an assignment, or a timed Wattle exam do so under a
declaration that the work is their own unaided efforts. You are expected to have read and
understood the ANU's Academic Integrity Rule.
