What is the structure of the BFC3241 Final Exam?
The BFC3241 Final Exam will cover Lectures 4 to 11, testing students on both theory and calculations
in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and worded short-answer questions. Students should
attempt to answer ALL questions. Note that we will be using similarity-detection software (e.g., Turnitin
or MOSS) to compare work to other student submissions and/or online or published content; such
software may retain a copy of the work for future similarity detection.

There will be 40 MCQs (2.5 points each) and one short-answer question with sub-sections (20 points).
Each MCQ has only one correct answer.

How many decimal points should I round my answers to?
Unless a question specifically asks you to round (for example, to two decimal places), then it does not
matter. You are strongly advised, however, to leave the rounding to your final answer and not to round
your inputs during the workings of a problem.

Will I have to show my workings for calculation questions?
Only the short-answer question may require you to show all the working out. This will clearly be specified
in the question if required.

What do I need to study?
The Final Exam covers materials from Lectures 4-11: Equity Analysis I-II, Market Efficiency,
Behavioral Finance, Investment Vehicles I-II, Portfolio Management, and CFA Code of Ethics and
Professional Standards.
Important:
• Lecture Notes and all illustrations provided throughout the semester
• Lecture Recordings
• Tutorial Questions/Solutions
• Tutorial Recordings
• Weekly Quizzes
• Relevant Chapters in the textbook and any additional assigned readings
• Last-year final exam
Do not expect the questions to be reused. Be prepared to be tested on applying theories using
critical skills rather than purely plugging inputs in a formula to derive an answer.

Will there be a sample Final Exam?
Yes, there will be a sample Final Exam – the exam paper from the last semester. Unlike this semester’s
final exam, the last-year exam covered all topics. Also, some questions may have required the knowledge
and usage of the Black-Scholes option pricing Excel calculator. This semester, the Black-Sholes formulas
are not tested in the final exam. Do not expect the questions from the sample final exam paper to
be reused.
