Make a convincing argument by structuring your ideas coherently and
persuasively.
Speak confidently and persuasively to an audience.
Use visual aids and digital technology to engage the audience.
Criteria A full criteria (rubric) will be posted in the Assessment folder on Blackboard
1. Overview
You will prepare a 5-minute video pitch for representatives of an industry affected by EITHER (i) ignoring
gender equity OR (II) greenwashing. The goal of this pitch is to persuade industry representatives to
implement one solution to one problem.
Your presentation will be assessed in terms of presentation skills, including presentation structure, visual
display, vocal delivery and body language.
More detailed instructions are provided below (see “3. Instructions”)
2. Approved topics
Your pitch must address ONE of the two approved questions:
1. What is one problem businesses cause by ignoring gender equality in the workplace? How can
businesses address this problem?
2. What is one problem businesses cause by using greenwashing tactics? How can businesses address
this problem?
MGTS7610 Business Pitch Assignment Guide 2

You may NOT change the question, but you should narrow the topic down, to focus on one specific
industry and location. We recommend using the same topic you chose in the conference paper, so you do
not have to do new research.
3. Instructions
3.1 Structure
Create a slideshow presenting one problem and one solution related to both your chosen topic and a specific
industry and location.
 Introduce yourself as an expert on this topic, using an opening slide that lists your name, the title of
your presentation, and the date of your presentation
 Include 2-3 content slides, to help your audience understand the problem and solution you are
presenting. We recommend using the persuasive structure (story>appeal) taught in class, but this is
not strictly required.
 When designing your slides, use the persuasion and visual communication techniques taught
throughout the semester.
 Aim to speak for 1-2 minutes per slide (maximum 5 minutes).
3.2 Sources
You may use the approved sources from your conference paper, as well as any other sources that help you
build a persuasive argument.
 You may include images, charts, and/or graphs on your slides.
 You must not use any additional video or music during your presentation.
NOTE: only your presentation skills will be assessed, not the quality of your research.

4. Additional requirements
4.1 Recording
You must be visible in your video recording for the entire presentation.
 Record your presentation through Zoom as one continuous video.
 Start recording only when you are ready, and finish recording when you are finished, to avoid
unnecessary silence and appearing unprofessional.
 Make sure that both your face and your hands can be seen in the recording, so that your body
language can be assessed.
4.2 Submission
Upload your video as a single file to the submission link on Blackboard through Kaltura. Instructions on how
to upload your video file are provided in the assessment folder.

4.3 Referencing
You may not quote directly from any sources. You must paraphrase all sources of information and
verbally acknowledge the source, e.g., “According to the Australian Government…”
You should also verbally acknowledge the source of any charts, tables, or graphs that you use to present
data or information, e.g. “This graph from ExxonMobil shows that …”
Additional (written) references are not needed.

4.4 Formatting
Your submission should:
 Have no more than four (4) slides: 1x Title slide; 2-3x content slides
 Have your video feed turned on for the entire presentation
 Not use any additional video or music
 Be presented in English and “landscape” mode
