FINAL EXAM INFORMATION
This exam is in the form of an on-line non-Wattle exam, and it accounts for 60% of the overall course mark. You
will access the exam on the course Wattle page. The exam is invigilated via Zoom. The Zoom link and password
will be available on the course Wattle site. Please ensure you sign into the Zoom session 10 minutes before the
start of the exam and before accessing the exam questions. You will need to have your ANU student card so that
we can verify your identity during the exam. Students will be pulled individually into a breakout room for the
identification check.
When is the exam and how long is it for?
• Students should check the ANU examination timetable for the exam date and time. Note that the exam
time stipulated on the timetable website is Canberra time.
• The time allowed for the exam is 4 hours. This includes time for you to download the exam paper from
Wattle and upload your answer document through Turnitin. Please make sure you allow for this when
managing your time. It is your responsibility to manage your time and facilities to ensure you can access
the exam paper and upload your answers (in a single document) within the exam times scheduled for this
course.
What tools or equipment do I need?
• Software: Microsoft Word or any compatible word processing software. Zoom with video and audio
enabled.
• Hardware: It is recommended that you use a desktop or a laptop. You will need your camera switched on
for the ENTIRE period of the exam (including uploading). Your camera should show your face and your
hands/desk as much as possible.
• Internet: You need to have a reliable internet connection. You may wish to consider having a backup
internet connection. This could take the form of using your phone as a hotspot in the event of internet
failure on your computer. It is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate reliable facilities.
• Permitted materials: All material.
What is the format of the exam and what does the exam cover?
• Format: 4 questions that are equally weighted. Each of the 4 questions will be based on a different case
description. Each of the 4 questions may be differently comprised of subparts, for which the weighting will
be specified.
• Coverage: Entire syllabus. Any one question might require you to draw on more than one part of the
course.
How do I save and submit my work?
• Remember to frequently save your answer document while you are working. It is recommended that you
also frequently save a back-up copy of your work on a different device, such as cloud storage or a USB
device.
• Allow yourself sufficient time to upload your document on Turnitin.
• Your submitted file must contain only text. Image files or images imbedded in a document are not
acceptable for this exam.
• You must carefully check that your document is complete and that you are submitting the intended version
of your document.
What do I do if I encounter any problems during the exam?
• Clarification of exam questions: During the first 30 minutes of the exam, Marvin and Greg will be available
on Zoom to clarify any questions. For the duration of the exam, you can use the chat function to
communicate with the invigilator if you have any questions but note that the invigilator will not assist you
with interpreting the requirements of a question. If there is a need for us to communicate with the class
during the exam, this will be done verbally in the Zoom session. It is your responsibility to ensure the Zoom
session remains active and that you can hear any announcements made.
• Technical issues: If technical difficulties (e.g., internet connectivity issues) prevent you from completing
the exam, make sure you provide sufficient evidence (e.g., time-stamped screenshots, photos and videos)
in any special consideration or deferred examination application that you may submit.
What rules should I be aware of?
• Special consideration (for sickness or other personal issues that affect your performance in the exam)
• Deferred examination (for exam clashes, health related issues, etc that stops you from being able to attend
the exam)
ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT - IMPORTANT REMINDERS
You must work by yourself. You cannot discuss the questions with anyone else.
You are required to provide in-text citation or references in the final exam. Per the ANU Academic
Misconduct Rule, if a student cheats, engages in plagiarism, improperly shares material with another person,
or engages in contract cheating or improperly engages another person to prepare, or assist in preparing,
work for the student, this is academic misconduct in relation to an assessment.
A person engages in plagiarism if the person uses another person’s work as though it were the person’s own
work. This includes excessive copying from lecture slides, tutorial notes and textbooks.
Students submitting a take-home exam, an assignment, or a timed Wattle exam work do so under a
declaration that the work is their own. You are expected to have read and understood the ANU's Academic
Misconduct Rule.
Instances of alleged breaches of academic integrity will be investigated. Candidates found to have
participated in any activity which could amount to a breach of academic integrity in this examination will
have their marks withdrawn and disciplinary action initiated on a complaint from the Course Convenor.
As a further academic integrity control, students may be selected for a 15-minute individual oral examination
of their final exam submission.
