PART 3 of the Assignment
Data file for part 3
In order to complete Part 3 of the assignment, you will be using two years of annual data
provided to you (i.e., you will not need to login to MYOB to do Part 3 of the assignment). This
is new data and different to the data you would have produced in part 2 of the assignment
(which only related to two months of operations). You can locate the data file under MYOB
Assignment Part 3. Please download the Data File before starting sections 9 and 10.

Section 9: Cash Flow Statement Moodle link [4 marks]
Using the information in the data file (discussed above), prepare a cash flow statement using
the direct method for the year ending 31 December 2021. Go to the submission link titled
“MYOB Assignment submission link - Part 3 Cash flow” and complete the table provided. It
is essential that you complete your answers for the cash flow statement in Moodle in the
boxes provided and follow the instructions for entry, as this part of the assessment is auto-
graded.

Section 10: Business Analysis [6 marks] (300 words)
The Annual Report to shareholders is an important publication for every publicly traded
corporation. It is sent to shareholders directly by the corporation and contains both audited
financial statements and other selected information about the company.
At present, your company is a private company with 21 shareholders (there were 20 at the
start of the simulated company period on 1 December, plus one additional shareholder in
December). The company wishes to expand through an IPO (initial public offering) through
the ASX, and the board of directors hope that this year’s annual report will help to attract new
investors.
To complete this section of the assignment, imagine that you are the CEO of the simulated
company. You are to analyse the financial statements and provide a report that is able to be
disseminated to shareholders and other interested parties, dated 31 December 2021. Your
analysis should be based on the two years of data from the data file, as well as the cash flow
statement that you generated in Section 9 (not the work you did in Part 2 of the assignment).

Your analysis should include:

• Your evaluation of the company’s performance as at 31 December 2021.
• Two (2) issues and/or concerns, operational or financial, that you may have for
the business. For each issue/concern that you have identified, you must do the
following:
o Describe your concern or the risks of your particular business. These
‘risks’ must be related to the operational performance or financial
circumstances of your company.
o Present evidence based on the data file information (from the Balance
sheet and Income statement provided, and/or the Cash flow statement you
created) to support your arguments.
o Propose a course of action(s) that you believe will resolve the situation or
mitigate risks.

The maximum word count for this section is 300 words. Keep your answer as concise as
possible! No additional research is required.

PART 3 - CHECK POINT SUBMISSION FILES
Due date: Friday 18 November 5PM Sydney Time.
You must upload one (1) file (Business Analysis) to the Moodle site and answer the quiz
questions relating to your cash flow statement. Please note that there are two separate links
for the two requirements. The submission links will be available Friday of week 9 and you
may submit at any time from Friday week 9 up to and including the submission date and time
detailed above. Once you have done this, you will have completed the MYOB assignment.
