VPAA10 Final Assignment: Individual Reflection on Group
Presentations (10%) due December 2, 2022
1
This is an assignment to help synthesize some of what you have learned this term, including
reflecting on your own learning styles, preferences and opportunities. Each person writes a 250-
to 500-word individual reflection that talks about how your interests have developed, using one
of your favourite scholarly articles from the term, the journey mapping assignment, and one
group presentation from your tutorial. Make sure to include your works cited.
Introduce your own interests in the field: what do you like to consume or visit? Are you keen to
get a job in the film industry? In a museum or gallery? Do you want to be a musician, or non-
profit financial manager? How about a social media manager or an artrepreneur? Perhaps you
would like to be a researcher or policy analyst. Have these changed since the beginning of term?
How? Why? As you reflect back on the readings from the term, think about one or two of your
favourite academic articles from a journal or an academic book. How has this article orr chapter
influenced you? Now, think about the journey mapping assignment you undertook – summarize
your key findings and what you found useful. Finally, review your notes from at least one of the
group presentations in your tutorial, and your group’s evaluation of that presentation. What
were the highlights? Why were they interesting to you? What worked well in the presentation?
As you look back on your own group’s research for their SWOT and PEST, what would you have
changed? In what ways did some of your earlier assignments help with the skills needed to
develop your group’s presentation, and your evaluation of the other groups’ projects?
Evaluation considerations
Writing and evidence (4 points): Clear, compelling writing that illustrates your depth of
understanding in course materials that have influenced you, including the scholarly article or
chapter, the original research you conducted for journey mapping, and the group presentations.
Provide specific examples from these previous assignments and experiences to illustrate your
responses.
Creative synthesis (3 points): Make sure to discuss something exceptional or fun or surprising
that you found in the article, journey mapping experience, and/or the other group’s assignment.
Feel free to be creative about this – include a drawing or a poem, or a clip of music you sampled
or composed that expresses how you feel about the material you’re reflecting on, or a collage of
screen shots (for example) if that will more clearly express what you’re thinking. How does your
reflection reflect all the elements that influenced your changing interests in the field? Thinking
about this is how to lift your own reflection into a higher plane. Have fun with it.
Academic honesty, formatting and accuracy (3 points): Don’t forget to add the “works cited”
(i.e., article(s), journey map research, presentation(s), and any news items or other references
you add in). Please follow APA or Chicago citation guidelines to properly acknowledge sources. It
is your responsibility to ensure that you understand and demonstrate in each assignment how to
properly quote, paraphrase, summarize, and cite sources; students are urged to read and use
the information available from the library and writing centre as well as through information
provided on the course Quercus site. Spelling, grammar and sentence structure are also
important here.
