Mid-Semester Test – When & Where
Tuesday April 18 @ 9 am AEST.
Online via Canvas
You must complete and submit no later than 9:50 AM (AEST)
• Total time = 50 min
• Writing and reading time = 45 min
• Submission = 5 min
Do NOT plan to commence the exam late in the period of availability; failure to
complete because of insufficient time will not be considered.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to:
• perform calculations and dilutions
• analyse and interpret data
• recognise and discuss potential limitations/issues with experimental techniques
• apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Mid-Semester Test – What’s being examined?
Material from practicals 1-5 and associated workshops will be examined.
• This is an integrated subject – all common aspects of the subject are open for assessment
(practicals, workshops, online modules on ADI Lt).
• Industry Perspective series – aspects related to practicals and workshops are examinable
• Refer to learning outcomes of each practical in manual
30 marks total
• We have incorporated time taken to read/comprehend information/data
provided in stem
Mid-Semester Test – Format
2 multi-part written questions – connected short answer questions
Questions will require you to problem solve and often starts with a
scenario/detailed stem
• Similar to practice questions that will be uploaded onto Canvas on Wednesday afternoon
• Data will be presented in tables and figures

Save your document regularly
When finished, save your word document with answers as a PDF file
Download Answer document (Word document) – this contains the MST questions and will be
your submissions file
• Rename your Answer document to include your student ID number and subject code
(e.g. [student id]_PHRM30009 MST)
• Type your answers within textboxes provided in the Answer document
• Do not make any formatting changes to the template file

Technical difficulties
Collect evidence of the issues you experienced. Evidence could include:

Mid-Semester Test – Approach
Do not plan to sit this quiz as ‘open book’ – you will not have enough time to
research your answers and they may not be relevant to the question at hand
Read the questions carefully – the stem contains important details
• The information is there for a reason
You have access to your ELN and you can use a calculator, PRISM or Microsoft
Excel for calculations
Use the allocated marks as a guide to the depth of your answer
