ERP Practice Set Assignment
Objectives of this assessment

• Demonstrate familiarity with SAP and outline common steps in business processes.
• Assess your understanding on key accounting information, risks, and control concepts.

This is an individual assignment.
Each case study is a self-contained module available on the LMS. The module itself is a step-by-
step guide to process a (single) economic transaction through the process in question. In going
through the modules, students are encouraged to reflect on the steps taken, what business and
economic events are occurring, what data is being used and generated and the purpose of the
process.
For the purposes of the assignment, you only need to do the case study and NOT the challenge
at the end of the case study. The challenge is there for you to test your understanding and while
it is optional, we do encourage you to do it. Solutions for the challenge will be available via the
LMS.
Submission
The two SAP submissions are to be completed (and thus submitted) by their respective due
dates via SAP.
The quiz will be made available early Week 7 via LMS. There is no time limit to complete the
quiz, but only one quiz attempt allowed. The quiz is due on 5th May, 5pm.
SAP Versions
Please be aware that currently SAP is in the process of transitioning from a traditional graphical
user interface (GUI, or R3 Version) version to a cloud-based version with an interface called
Fiori. For the purposes of this assignment, we are using the Fiori version.
ERP Practice Set
Currently SAP users around the world are deciding when to shift across, the earlier adopters
have already moved, while other companies are waiting until S4/Hana (S4 is the version of SAP,
Hana is the database) is more stable or forced to move when support for the GUI stops in 2030.
Please be aware that industry is using both versions.
Mark Allocation
Marks will be awarded upon completion* of the modules and your attempt of the quiz.
• 2.5 marks will be awarded for the completion* of the SD module
• 2.5 marks will be awarded for the completion* of the MM module
• The remaining 5 marks will be based on your attempt (and result) of the quiz.
*NOTE: for the modules, while we will not be marking accuracy directly, accuracy is important for
tracking purposes. Partial marks will be awarded for partial completion.
LEARN-IDs
Each student will be given a username LEARN-### where the ### is a three-digit number
unique to you.
It is important when entering data into SAP that you use your three-digit number
EVERYTIME the instructions ask you to enter something with ### (use your unique
number, NOT 000).
For example, in the first module, you will be dealing with inventory item Professional
Touring Bike (black). The instruction guide has this listed as DXTR1000 and my unique
number is 991. Therefore, if I was entering the information myself, I would use DXTR1991
NOT DXTR1000.
User number 000 is “super admin” (i.e., the developers of the case study), so they used their own
ID number when taking screenshots and developing the instructions, so please ensure you
substitute your ID number correctly when appropriate.
If you do not substitute your unique number correctly, it will appear as if you did not
attempt (or complete) the exercise when we run our reports on the various items to check
if you did the assignment. Therefore, you may not get marked.
ERP Practice Set
There are a lot more exercises and case studies than 2!
Yes, there are. We are giving you access to a multimillion dollar near complete install of SAP,
and exercises for each of the modules contained within the install. While we are only assessing
you on two modules, you may wish to undertake others in your own time. The LMS will remain
open after the end of the semester for you to access these and practice if you wish during the
break following the semester.
An accounting student/graduate who has experience with SAP on their CV is an attractive future
employee to many organisations. However, be mindful that if you include such experience on
your CV, you need to be able to substantiate the experience and skills that you are claiming.
How to access Fiori
To complete the assignment via Fiori, all you need is a web browser. Below is the link to access
