OPER 5011 EL 61 Winter 2023 – Operations Management
ÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿ

Final examination Instructions
There will be a three-hour open-book final examination consisting of selected problems that will
relate to all the course content (all chapters covered in the course). The selected problems in this
examination will be similar to those assigned in the course (Selected Problems from all the
Chapters covered in the course (Weekly solved problems and problems in Group Assignments
1 and 2)).
Your final exam will be an online exam written through D2L and available in the Tab Quizzes.
You will be required to complete the exam on April 22, 2023 at 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Sudbury
Time) as scheduled by the Registrar’s Office. You are required to log in the course D2L
webpage to access the exam, and you must join the invigilated Final Exam Zoom session and
stay in the meeting during the whole exam period (I will be invigilating the exam). Please note
that you should not write the Exam if you do not join the invigilated Zoom session, otherwise you
will have a zero (0) mark in the exam because of the impossibility to verify that you are real person
writing the exam and that you are not cheating. There will be an extra time of 5 minutes in the system
so you can organize and double check your exam and submit before the D2L system block you to do
so. You should stop writing the exam at 12:00 pm and submit it.
Here is the Final Exam Zoom link (you are required to use your LU credentials in order to log
in):

The exam has different types of questions: True/False, Multiple Choice, Arithmetic, and Written
Response.
- You are already familiar with the True/False and Multiple Choice questions as they were the
types of question in our semester quizzes. These types of questions are graded automatically by
the system.
- The Arithmetic questions will require you to do calculations using formulas seen in the course in
order to respond to these questions, and you should report your answer to a question with the
appropriate decimal places’ rounding in the space reserved for that answer. These types of
questions are graded automatically by the system.
- The Written Response questions require you to complete your answers by hand (not with Excel
or anything else) in a piece of paper. Then you scan all the pages of your answers to each
question in one PDF file before uploading it in “Add a File” designed to store the file of your
answers to that question (you should have one PDF file for the answers to each question). I will
be grading manually these types of questions.
Please note that at 12:05 pm, if you do not submit your exam, you will not be able to do it after
because D2L will block you to do so. You will then receive a zero (0) mark in the exam as you
will be considered deciding not to submit your exam. Please also note that I will not accept any
submission by email, regardless the reason.
The exam will be posted in D2L, and will be accessible exactly at 9:00 am (Sudbury Time). The
Written Response questions must be completed by hand, but you can use all the tools you want
for the other questions. In answering the questions by hand, you should use a pen (not a pencil)
with the colors you want (black, blue, green), but excluding the red color.
For those who may not have a scanner, you may use scanner applications for smartphones (Adobe
Scan, CamScanner, Notes for Apple users, etc.). There are many which are very practical and easy
to use. I have personally been using Adobe Scan, which is great when you want to scan several
pages in one PDF document. You may need to practice very well before the exam day in order to
avoid any potential issues in using either your scanner or Adobe Scan (or equivalent Scan App) from
your smartphone.
Please note again that at 12:05 pm, if you do not submit your exam, you will not be able to do it
after because D2L will block you to do so. You will then receive a zero (0) mark in the exam as
you will be considered deciding not to submit your exam. Please also note that I will not accept
any submission by email, regardless the reason.
