Your exam is 2 hours and 10 minutes long (130 minutes). This includes 10 minutes of
reading time, but you can start writing whenever you are ready. You are strongly
encouraged to use this time to carefully plan and structure your response before you start
writing.
Quiz buffer time: You will be allowed a buffer time of 20 minutes in case you
experience any technical issues starting your exam. This means that you have 20
minutes to begin the exam and still get the full time allowed to complete the exam. If
you are unable to start your exam within the buffer time, you should apply for special
consideration. Buffer time does NOT mean you have extra time to complete your exam.
Please keep track of your time. Your quiz timer may not update if you have an internet
connection issue. Use the time on your computer so that you always know how much
time you have left. Only questions completed within the exam time will be marked.

Your exam will consist of:

Extended response questions will appear only in the Canvas quiz. You should handwrite
your responses on white paper using blue or black ink. You must keep the Canvas quiz
open until you have finished answering all exam questions. Only after you have finished
responding to the final extended response question should you submit your quiz, at
which time the ProctorU session will cease. You will then have 30 minutes only to (scan),
save and upload your responses to the Canvas assignment. Your file must be in PDF
format. Your submission must be a single file only. Please follow these instructions for
uploading handwritten work i.e., images.

Starting this exam
4. One hour before your scheduled start time, make sure you complete these online exam

Please go to the bathroom before you start your exam. You are allowed to take a bathroom
break during the exam however leaving the room will be recorded by ProctorU. Excessive
or multiple breaks may be reported for potential integrity issues.
The room you take the exam in should be like an exam room, and all normal exam
conditions (https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/exams/rules.html) apply. You must dress
and behave in a manner as though you were sitting in a public setting.
Make sure your mobile phone and any other electronic devices (iPads, Smartwatches etc.)
are switched off and placed out of arm's reach from the exam area.
Remove your headphones.
Remove any language translation plugins in your browser (such as Google Translate).
Unless otherwise indicated in your exam, you will need to submit your answers in English,
and only answers in English will be marked.
Remove any Adblocker software in your browser as this may prevent you from accessing
the exam.
If you are studying remotely, you will need to log into the University Private Network.
Disable any other location changing VPNs or proxies as these may be considered
evidence of contracting cheating.
Disconnect any secondary monitors from the computer or laptop you will be using.
5. When you are ready to start, log in to the ProctorU browser extension.
On the day and time of your exam, click the ProctorU logo in the top right of your
browser to log in.

You do not have to schedule a Record+ exam in ProctorU. The test will not be visible on
your ProctorU dashboard before you start the test in Canvas.
