Please start this assignment early; programming and logic takes time - if you leave it to the last minute, you might not have enough time to finish or might make silly mistakes that you otherwise could avoid. We encourage you to write the code in IntelliJ (or any other IDE) and paste the solution in Mimir.

I. If you run into a syntax error while preparing this assignment, do not panic. Show the code you ran, and show the error you encountered. Explain the purpose of the step, and state what you were trying to do. If the error is preventing you from running any follow-on steps, again, focus on the explanation -- show that you understand the purpose of the step, rather than just giving up. II. Use your resources. Whether it’s the consultation sessions in Zoom, the Zoom recitations, e-mail, the video library, your classmates, the web, etc. there are many places to look for help or to clarify any questions that you may have. As the AD699 slogan says, “Get After It!”

It is very important that you follow the directions as closely as possible. The directions, while perhaps tedious, are designed to make it as easy as possible for the TAs to mark the assignments by letting them run your assignment, in some cases through automated tests. While these tests will never be used to determine your entire grade, they speed up the process significantly, which allows the TAs to provide better feedback and not waste time on administrative details. Plus, if the TA is in a good mood while he or she is grading, then that increases the chance of them giving out partial marks. :) Up to 30% can be removed for bad indentation of your code as well as omitting comments, or poor coding structure.

In this assignment, you are facing a real-world data preprocessing task. During the assignment, you are asked to answer several questions to demonstrate your level of understanding on multiple topics, including distributed database, data warehousing, data integration and data quality management. Meanwhile, coding is required for some questions to show your problem-solving ability.

This coursework requires you to develop and implement a game fitting the “Covid-19 Fighter in the UK” theme. You are expected to apply a good range of knowledge and skills learnt from this module to complete your work. The implementation can be done by PyGame or Unity. You should choose a suitable game genre and design a story matching the required theme. You should also design game machinations to control game progression and game object abilities. Finally, you should demonstrate an effective use of multimedia content. Note that the focus of this coursework is game development with implementation rather than realistic graphics modeling.

For this assignment, you will implement several common NLP algorithms: Interpolated language models, dependency parsing, and probabilistic context free grammars in Python. Throughout this assignment you will make changes to the provided code. You should submit a .zip file containing all of your python files, BUT NOTHING ELSE. For this assignment you are only being marked on your coding solutions. You will lose marks if your code is inefficient, difficult to read, does not run on our platform, or is incorrect.

In this project, you will evaluate the stock price reaction to changes to analyst recommendations. Each observation will represent an analyst either upgrading or downgrading a stock from their previous recommendation. The deadline for this project is 11:59pm on Friday, November 6. This project has three parts, each worth a third of the total mark for the project: Part 1: Combine stock price data distributed across multiple files. Part 2: Prepare the analyst recommendation data distributed across multiple files. Part 3: Perform the event study This project is to be completed individually by each student. You should not collaborate. You are allowed to post questions about the project in the thread I will create in the Discussion Board. PCA and k-means You are required to write code for performing PCA on a given dataset. After performing PCA, you are required to (1) use various classifiers to perform classification and (2) implement kmeans clustering to group data.

Being able to ask appropriate questions of data is an important part of the work of data analytics. It is also critical to be able to interpret the results of the analysis. This assignment is intended to familiarize you with the data sets and to get you thinking about key business questions you can answer from this data.
